Day 1: Ho Chi Minh Arrival
Arrive in the city formerly known as Saigon where you will meet your guide before being transferred to your hotel ahead of time at leisure through the remainder of the day.

Day 2: Cu Chi – Ho Chi Minh
Leave early in the morning to head for the Cu Chi District to visit the famous network of tunnels created by the Viet Cong for use during battle in both the French and American Wars. En-route you’ll be able to see what life is like for those living in the Vietnamese countryside as you pass through a number of small villages and see locals working in the rice paddies. On arrival at the tunnels, you’ll take a tour around some of the tunnel network to gain an insight into what it was like to be a guerrilla fighter before enjoying lunch at a local restaurant. On return to Ho Chi Minh, your tour will take in a number of the main sights, including the Presidential Palace, Old Saigon Post Office, Opera House and City Hall.

Day 3: Ho Chi Minh – Cai Be
Take an early morning drive to the delta town of Cai Be, where you will board a boat for a trip around the floating market. Having marvelled at the traders at work on the water, you’ll visit a local cottage factory to see local specialities being produced before cruising on the water to Dong Hoa Hiep Island, admiring the local scenery along the way. Once there, you’ll enjoy a Mekong style lunch before returning to Ho Chi Minh.

Day 4: Ho Chi Minh – Hue
Following breakfast, you’ll head for the airport to take a flight north to Hue, where you will meet your guide before transferring to your accommodation to leave your luggage. An afternoon tour then gets underway with the chance to visit the Mausoleum of Tu Duc, which was a palace retreat for the emperor before becoming his resting place when he passed away. From there, you’ll visit the tomb of Khai Dinh on Chau Chu mountain, which is unique from other tombs in the area because it features of the combination of European and Vietnamese influences in its design.

Day 5: Hue - Hoi An
Enjoy a scenic trip down the coast from Hue to the ancient trading port of Hoi An, passing through the picturesque fishing village of Lang Co en-route. You’ll also travel across the famous Hai Van Pass, which is also known as the Ocean Cloud Pass because of the mists that rise from the sea and reduce visibility for motorists tackling the challenging road. Having arrived in Hoi An, you’ll enjoy a walking tour around the ancient town centre to visit former merchants’ houses, the famed Japanese covered bridge and the town’s colourful market.

Day 6: Hoi An
A day at leisure to explore some of the sights around Hoi An, such as the numerous museums that tell the history of Hoi An and the surrounding region. You could also book onto one of the various boat excursions that head out from Hoi An to explore the river and coast nearby (own cost) or you could simply take a stroll through the narrow Hoi An streets before relaxing on the beach.

Day 7: Hoi An – Da Nang – Hanoi
Leave Hoi An and journey to Da Nang where you will catch a flight to Hanoi. On arrival, meet your guide before transferring to your hotel.

Day 8: Hanoi
Spend a full day exploring the sights of Hanoi on a city tour, starting with the chance to visit the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh; the father of modern Vietnam. From there, you’ll take the short trip to the wooden house that was his temporary home in his later life and can also admire the stunning One Pillar Pagoda, an impressive Buddhist temple regarded as one of the most iconic to be found anywhere in the country. The Temple of Literature university and the temples at Tran Quoc and Quan Thanh also feature on the tour, as does the Hoa Lo Prison, where American Prisoners of War were held during the Vietnam war. A busy day comes to an end with the visit to the Old Quarter of the city to explore the bustling network of narrow streets before catching a Water Puppet show; which depicts scenes from rural life in a unique style.

Day 9: Hanoi – Halong Bay
Travel through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta as you journey to the coast for a tour in Halong Bay. En-route, you’ll be able to see local Vietnamese people going about their everyday business working in the rice fields and travelling to and from market to trade their goods. On arrival in Halong Bay, you’ll board a boat which will then cruise out into the bay itself to give you the opportunity to marvel at the numerous rock formations that rise from the water before watching the sun set. With the anchor having dropped, you’ll enjoy dinner before spending the night on the water.

Day 10: Halong – Hanoi departure
Enjoy breakfast as the boat weaves its way back to the dock before transferring to Hanoi airport for your flight home.
