Day 1: Bangkok – Ayutthaya – Sukhothai
The tour gets underway with a trip to Ayutthaya, where you can marvel at the bronze statues of Wat Mongkol Borpith and visit the impressive ancient pagodas of Wat Phra Sri Sanpetch and Wat Pranangcheng. After lunch in Chainat, you’ll stop to visit the ruins of an ancient Buddhist temple in Kamphaeng Phet before continuing to Sukhothai where you will spend the night.

Day 2: Sukhothai – Lampang
Your time in the former Thai capital will see you spend time exploring the Historical Park, which covers the ruins of the original town of Sukhothai; which includes temples, palace buildings and a number of ancient Buddha figures. You can also visit the Ramkamhaeng Museum and the huge Wat Sri Chum Buddha before heading for Lampang to view the Burmese style temples before checking into your accommodation.

Day 3: Lampang – Lampoon – Chiang Mai
Leave Lampang behind as you head for Ko Kah to pay a visit to the Wat Phra Dhat Lampang Lung temple with its Emerald Buddha before arriving in Lampoon to visit the sacred Wat Haripoon Chai monument. Continue to Chiang Mai to visit the Hill Tribe Museum ahead of a two-night stay.

Day 4: Chiang Mai
Spend the morning exploring some of the most interesting temples to be found around Chiang Mai, including the impressive Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Buddhist temple, a sacred site to many Thai people which overlooks the city from its position on the mountain of Doi Suthep. After an afternoon at leisure to explore, enjoy a traditional style Thai dinner, complete with dancing and songs from a local hill tribe.

Day 5: Hill tribe country
Spend a day exploring hill tribe country, starting with a visit to a working elephant camp where you will have option of taking a ride on one of these majestic animals. You’ll then pay a visit to an orchid farm before visiting a local Meo Village where the afternoon is free before a BBQ dinner around the campfire with dancing and songs.

Day 6: Kok River Cruise – Chiang Rai
Travel through the village of Huay Luek to Thaton, where you’ll join a long-tailed boat to cruise along the Kok River to Chiang Rai, stopping en-route to visit a number of the small hill tribe villages located along the way.

Day 7: Chiang Rai – Bangkok
Travel in the morning to the Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet, before a boat trip to Chiang Saen. After lunch in a local restaurant, it’s back to Chiang Rai to join the afternoon flight back to Bangkok and your onward journey home.
