Day 1: Arrive in Bangkok
Begin your adventure upon arrival in the city of Bangkok where you will transfer to your riverside hotel to unwind before meeting your Travel Director for a Welcome Reception drink and appetisers.

Day 2: Bangkok
Start early on your first day in the city with a visit to Lumpini Park to learn the basic techniques of T’ai Chi with the locals or begin at a leisurely pace and join your fellow travellers on a tour to Bangkok’s Pak Klong Talad fruit and flower market. Your next stop on the tour is the Grand Palace, the once great residence of the Kings of Thailand from the 18th to the 20th century and home to the most sacred Buddhist Temple in all of Thailand, Wat Phra Kaew. The afternoon is free for you to indulge in the sights and sounds of the city as you please or take part in an optional experience.

Day 3: Bangkok
Set off early today for a visit to the renowned Damnoen Saduak floating fruit and vegetable market so you can browse the wares of the floating canoes as they navigate the waters of the congested canals before the crowds get there. Stop off at the coconut palm sugar plantation en route and learn all about the sap extraction of the palm trees to make sugar before returning to Bangkok for a visit to Wat Pho, the oldest temple in Bangkok which features the largest reclining Buddha in all of Thailand.  Wat Pho is also the location of Thailand’s first university and a great place for you to enjoy a traditional Thai massage. Take a ferry across the Chao Phraya River to Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, to see its lofty, ceramic covered Pagoda.

Day 4: Bangkok – Kanchanaburi – Bangkok
Today you’ll have the chance to visit the Thailand-Burma Railway Museum at Kanchanaburi where you can see the historical elements of the railway line built during WWII by the Imperial Japanese army. See the War Cemetery, the burial site for over 6,000 Allied prisoners, before paying a visit to the world famous Bridge over the River Kwai. Enjoy an afternoon lunch at a local restaurant before boarding the local train for an exciting ride across wooden viaducts showcasing gorgeous views along the Kwai River. The evening is yours after you travel back to Bangkok where you can relax or explore as you like.

Day 5: Bangkok – Chiang Rai – Golden Triangle
Wake up with a morning breakfast at the hotel before heading over to the airport to catch a flight to Chiang Rai where, on arrival, you’ll visit an Ahka village to meet the colourfully dressed locals. Continue on to the pilgrimage site of Doi Tung, which once served as a cultivation site for opium and now is a revered destination for Thai, Shan and Chinese Buddhists. While here, you’ll get the opportunity to see the Royal Development Project which was initiated by the late Princess Mother of Thailand to help the locals become educated and economically self-reliant. Finish off the day after arriving at your Golden Triangel hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Golden Triangle & Laos
Get ready to drive to Chiang Saen today, the former capital of the first Thai Lanna Kingdom where you can embark on a boat journey across the Mekong River to the convergence point of Myanmar, Laos and Thailand, known as the Golden Triangle. Visit the Don Sao Island Markets of Laos to browse their wares and crafts, enjoy some lunch at a local restaurant and visit the Hall of Opium to learn all about the opium trade that has boomed over the last century. Return to your hotel in the golden Triangle and spend the evening as you please.

Day 7: Golden Triangle – Chiang Mai
Leave early today for a brief pit stop at the white temple of Wat Rong Khun before proceeding to Chiang Mai, a hotspot known for its heritage, culture and top quality handicrafts. Spend the afternoon at a local restaurant before visiting the Sankamphaeng villages and Wat Doi Suthep temple, an ancient Buddhist monastery built in 1383 and located near the top of Mt. Suthep. The evening is a good chance to relax or participate in any optional experiences.

Day 8: Chiang Mai – Bang Mae Kampong
Depart Chiang Mai today in a small vehicle to pay a visit to the village of Ban Mae Kampong where, on arrival, you will be met by the village chief, or a member of his family, who will talk to you about the culture and lifestyle of the locals before joining them for a Be My Guest lunch. Continue on with a village tour to see locals make hats, bamboo furniture, herbal products and the fermenting process of old tea leaves. See the Mae Kampong temple and waterfall before enjoying a free evening back in Chiang Mai.

Day 9: Chiang Mai
Join an optional experience visiting the Chiang Dao Elephant Camp and the Karen Hill Tribe at Baan Tong Luang or spend the day free before enjoying a Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant with your fellow adventurers and Travel Director.

Day 10: Depart Chiang Mai
Your tour ends as you transfer to Chiang Mai International Airport for your return flight home.
