Day 1: Colombo – Negombo
Arrive into Colombo International Airport before being transferred to Negombo for the first night of your trip. In the evening, you’ll be able to spend time enjoying the bustling sea side resort as it comes to life when the sun drops.

Day 2: Negombo – Sigiriya
Leaving Negombo behind after an early breakfast, you’ll set out towards the impressive historical site located at Sigiriya in the heart of the country. Along the way, you’ll stop off at the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage where the is the opportunity to get up close to these majestic creatures; all of which have been rescued after being either abandoned or injured in the wild. Having marvelled at the sight of the elephants bathing in the local river and tried your hand at feeding the younger residents, you’ll then spend time at the stunning Dambulla Cave Temple, which is one of the best preserved examples of a cave temple anywhere in Sri Lanka.

Day 3: Polonnaruwa
Now in the heart of Sri Lanka’s famous Cultural Triangle, you’ll enjoy the day exploring the medieval city of Polonnaruwa, which is one of the top archaeological sites in the country. Here, you can marvel at the ancient city walls, palaces, shrines, parks and ponds before returning to the hotel for some time at leisure.

Day 4: Sigiriya – Kandy
Your day will start with the opportunity to explore Lion Rock, the astonishing rock fortress that rises 200 metres from the jungle floor and for which Sigiriya is best known. Explore the ramparts and water gardens that surround the rock and marvel at the impressive Heavenly Maiden frescoes before you reach the top to take in the stunning views of the surrounding area. From there, you’ll then head onwards to Kandy, stopping off en-route to visit a spice garden. Once you arrive in Kandy, you’ll be given the chance to explore with a tour of the famous city before an evening visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic for a Puja Ceremony and performance of Kandyan dancing and drumming.

Day 5: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya
From Kandy, you’ll head off to explore Sri Lanka’s tea-growing highlands, with a visit to a leading plantation to see the production process first hand. From the plucking fields where the leaves are picked to the factory where the processing begins, you’ll be able to see how one of Sri Lanka’s most famous exports is created before spending the afternoon exploring the delights of Nuwara Eliya.

Day 6: Depart Nuwara Eliya
Following breakfast, you’ll leave hill country behind and head for the airport for your return flight home.
