Day 1: Arrive Delhi
Arrive at Delhi International Airport to meet your tour representative before being transferred to your hotel.

Day 2: Delhi
A day long tour will enable you to take in the sights of the capital city as you explore both Old and New Delhi. Amongst the many highlights of your trip will be the chance to visit the imposing Jama Misjid mosque and to reflect at the moving memorial to Mahatma Ghandi. You’ll also drive past the War Memorial Arch and the Rashtrapati Bhawan, home to the Indian president, before ending your day visiting the Qutub Minar, an impressive 100m tall tower made from sandstone and marble that is the main draw in a complex of medieval structures and ruins.

Day 3: Delhi – Mandawa
Leaving Delhi in the early morning, you’ll journey through the Indian countryside to the town of Mandawa, famed for its old fort and for the havelis built by rich merchant families, which feature a series of impressive paintings and frescoes that have become a major draw for tourists.

Day 4: Mandawa – Bikaner
Continue your journey around Rajasthan by journeying to the city of Bikaner, formed back in the 1400s and now one of the key cities in the region. Having checked into your hotel, you’ll be taken on an afternoon tour that will see you visit Junagarh Fort, an imposing complex in the heart of the city that features no fewer than 37 sandstone palaces, temples and pavilions within its walls.

Day 5: Bikaner – Jaisalmer
Head by road for the ‘Golden City’ of Jaisalmer in the heart of the Thar Desert, so called because of the yellow sandstone found in the area that is widely used for the construction of buildings – giving the city a golden tinge.

Day 6: Jaisalmer
A day of exploration will start with the chance to visit Jaisalmer Fort, built in 1156 from huge yellow sandstone blocks in the heart of the city. One of the largest forts in the world, it is home to a royal palace and a number of merchant havelis which you’ll be able to admire before travelling to the edge of Gadisagar Lake to marvel at the reservoir that was once the only source of water to the city. Having admired local folk art at the Folklore Museum, the afternoon will see you head out of the city into the surrounding sand dunes, with a sunset camel ride providing the opportunity to gain a feel for the desert.

Day 7: Jaisalmer – Jodhpur
The next stop on your trip will be Jodhpur, the second largest city in Rajasthan after Jaipur. A guided tour of the sights will give you the chance to marvel at the imposing Mehrangarh Fort, a huge complex that sits on a 122m hill overlooking the city below. A series of seven gates give access to the fort, which contains a number of palaces, period rooms and galleries. After time exploring the fort, you’ll travel to nearby Jaswant Thada, a memorial built from carved sheets of marble to honour Maharaja Jaswant Singh II.

Day 8: Jodhpur – Ranakpur – Udaipur
Leave Jodhpur behind to head for Udaipur, stopping off en-route to visit the village of Ranakpur. While here, you’ll be able to explore the impressive Jain Temples, which were built to honour Adinatha; the traditional founder of Jainism. Rising from the slope of a hill, the impressive structure features more than 1,400 unique marble pillars and is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for followers of the religion.

Day 9: Udaipur
Your time in Udaipur starts with a half day excursion to visit the Nagda and Eklingji Temples. The former are a pair of temples dedicated to the Supreme God Vishnu, while the latter is an ancient Hindu complex featuring no fewer than more than 100 temples within its high walls. A city tour in the afternoon includes a visit to the City Palace before the opportunity to take a stroll around the Garden of the Maids of Honour prior to returning to your hotel.

Day 10: Udaipur – Jaipur
Drive from Udaipur to Jaipur, stopping on the way to visit Brahma Temple, the most prominent temple dedicated to the Hindu god of creation located close to the sacred Pushkar Lake.

Day 11: Jaipur
Spend a day exploring the Pink City, so called because of the red sandstone used in the construction of many of its buildings. A guided tour will allow you to cast your eye over the city below from the spectacular Amber Fort before you return to the city itself to admire the costumes and armoury to be found at the City Palace Museum and visit the impressive Jantar Mantar Observatory.

Day 12: Jaipur – Fatehpur Sikri – Agra
Leave Jaipur to head for Agra, calling in at the ancient ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri en-route to admire the stunning architecture of an ancient complex that was abandoned shortly after completion because of the lack of water in the area. Arriving in Agra, you’ll visit India’s most famous landmark with a sightseeing tour of the Taj Mahal, built in the 17th century to honour his favourite wife by emperor Shah Jahan.

Day 13: Agra – Delhi
The final day of your tour will see you head back to Delhi, with a tour of the massive sandstone Agra Fort and the Tomb of Akbar the Great before you leave. Arriving in Delhi, head for the airport for your return home.
