Day 1: Arrive Phnom Penh
Arrive into Phnom Penh where an English speaking guide will greet you to take you to your hotel to check in for the start of your trip. You’ll then have some time to take your first steps around the Cambodian capital; a city that retains masses of colonial charm despite its recent turbulent history.

Day 2: Phnom Penh
The dark history of Cambodia can be explored at the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, which is housed in a former school that was taken over by the Khmer Rouge and used as its main detention centre during the troubles. Visiting the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek afterwards provides further insight into a harrowing era for the Cambodian people, with stories from survivors being provided in an audio guide. After lunch (own expense), you’ll then be taken on a trip around Phnom Penh on a cyclo; visiting Wat Phnom and the impressive Royal Palace – home to the Silver Pagoda. A trip to the National Museum and a sunset river cruise conclude an informative day in the city.

An optional evening programme is available which provides the opportunity to be entertained by a performance from Cambodian Living Arts – shows run year round on selected days.
Day 3: Phnom Penh – Kampong Thom
The day begins with a trip to Sambor Prei Kuk, an important pre-Angkorian site comprising of a number of well preserved temples scattered through the forest. You also have chance to visit some of the villages around the temple complex to see locals practicing ancient forms of craft making and will enjoy a simple but tasty lunch prepared by the local community.

Day 4: Kampong Thom – Siem Reap
After breakfast in your hotel, you’ll head for Siem Reap and the famous Angkor temples. Along the way, you’ll have chance to walk across the famous Spean Praptos Bridge and will board a boat to cruise on the Tonle Sap Lake to the village of Kampong Kleang where you can travel between the stilted houses where local fishermen and the families live. You’ll then continue on to Siem Reap where the remainder of the day can be spent at leisure.

Day 5: Siem Reap
Today you’ll rise early to travel by remork – the Khmer version of the tuk tuk – to watch the sun rise at Angkor Wat; an experience that is sure to live long in the memory. Representing the soul of the Khmer people, Angkor Wat features on the Cambodian national flag and is decorated by more than 2,000 Aspara dancers. You’ll then head onwards to the walled city of Angkor Thom to visit the Bayon Temple, with its 54 towers to represent the 54 provinces of the Great Khmer Empire, before a trip to Ta Prohm – an ancient temple that is being reclaimed by the jungle trees and vines around it; making it one of the most picturesque there is. The day will end with a cruise around the moat of Angkor Thom to watch the sun go down.

Day 6: Depart Siem Reap
After a morning at leisure to either make use of the facilities at your hotel, or to do some last minute shopping, you’ll head for the airport for your return flight home.
