Days 1 & 2: Phnon Penh
Arrive in the Cambodian capital for a two day stay. Take time to investigate the recent troubled past of the country with a visit to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, located in a former school that had been converted into a detention centre by the Khmer Rouge. You could head for the infamous Killing Fields to gain further understanding of the problems that blighted the country in the not-too-distant past. With free time to explore, you can look into a more glorious time in Cambodian history with a visit to the many treasures found within the National Museum.
Days 3 & 4: Battambang
Head for Battambang, where you can admire the French colonial architecture that is to be found throughout the riverside city. Pay a visit to the religious site of Phnom Sampov and uncover the tragic past of the ‘killing caves’ used by the Khmer Rouge, explore the ruins of the peaceful Wat Banan temples and take a stroll along the riverfront to see the local community going about its business.
Days 5-7: Siem Reap – Angkor
See the sun rise over the famous Angkor Wat complex at the start of three days to explore the famous Angkor Temples with the help of a local guide. Learn about the history of a region that was the seat of the Khmer Empire for hundreds of years as you marvel at the captivating buildings that make up the huge complex. You’ll also be able to spend time in the lively town of Siem Reap, a popular resort that sits at the gateway to the Angkor region.
Day 8: Sambor Prei Kuk – Homestay
See what Cambodian life is like first hand by spending the night with a local family close to the ruins of Sambor Prei Kuk – an ancient temple complex that can be found located in the forests on the eastern side of the Tonle Sap. Explore those ruins with the help of a local guide or tour the countryside by bike at your expense.
Days 9 & 10: Kampot
Two days in Kampot provide the perfect chance to relax and make the most of its impressive riverside location. While in the area, you’ll have the chance to journey through salt flats, rice fields and pepper plantations – the latter in particular  being important to the area, which is well known for its pepper farms. You could head slightly out of town to visit the famous Phnom Chhnork cave temple and sample the renowned durian fruit, which is known for its distinctive smell as much as anything else.
Days 11 & 12: Sihanoukville
Enjoy two days of beachside bliss with a visit to Sihanoukville, where you can sit back and relax on the white sands or take a dip in the blue ocean. If relaxing isn’t your thing, there is the option to take a boat tour to one of the nearby islands or head into the Ream National Park to explore the tropical jungle, and possibly meet the local monkey population.
Days 13 & 14: Phnom Penh
Your adventure will come to an end with two days back in Phnom Penh, where you will be able to shop for jewellery in the Russian Market and admire the stunning Royal Palace; where the blue flag will be flying high if the king is in residence. You can also spend more time exploring the sights, such as the Wat Phnom Buddhist temple in the heart of the city, before your time in Cambodia comes to an end.
