Day 1: Yangon
Arrive into Yangon International Airport before being transferred to your hotel in the former Burmese capital. A sightseeing tour includes the opportunity to explore the Sule Pagoda and the colonial-style city centre before a visit to the huge reclining Buddha image at Chauk Htat Kyi. You’ll also have chance to take memorable photos at Karaweik Hall before a break for refreshments a traditional tea shop. The highlight of the day comes at the Shwedagon Pagoda with the chance to marvel at the huge golden dome that rises nearly 100m above its base and is one of the most spectacular religious sites in the world.

Day 2: Yangon – Bagan
Head for the airport to take a flight to Bagan, where your time starts with a tour of the local market and a number of the most important pagodas and temples in the city; including Ananda Temple and Shwezigon Pagoda. A trip out to nearby Myingaba village provides the chance to visit a lacquer craftman’s workshop before visits to the palace of King Manuha and Myingaba Gu Byuk Kyi Temple with its ancient mural paintings. Late in the afternoon, the day ends with a cruise on the Ayeyarwaddy River.

Day 3: Bagan – Heho – Inle Lake
Transfer to the airport for a flight to Heho before heading onwards to Nyaungshwe on the edge of Inle Lake; stopping off en-route at Shweyanpyay wooden monastery. In the afternoon, take a visit to the holy site of Phuang Daw Oo Pagoda as well as a boat construction site at Nampan village and a selection of local workshops. You’ll then continue by boat to visit Nga Phe Kyaung Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries on the lake, before heading back to your hotel.

Day 4: Inle Lake – Heho – Yangon
If it’s market day then you can explore one of the five day markets before a boat trip to Indaing on the western end of the lake. On arrival you’ll enjoy a 15 minute walk through Indaing village to reach the pagoda ruins of Nyaung Ohak and Shwe Inn Thein Paya, a complex of weather beaten zedi. Returning to the river jetty, you’ll then return to your long boat to return to your hotel before being transferred to the airport in Heho for the flight back to Yangon.

Day 5: Yangon – Departure
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
