Days 1-2: Arrive in Yangon
Arrive in the city of Yangon where upon arrival you will be transferred to the Belmond Governor’s Residence for the next two nights. Spend the time exploring Yangon as you see fit, from visiting the Shwedagon Pagoda, the Bogyoke Aung San Museum or any other sites all at your own

Day 3: Yangon & Sailing
Begin the day by boarding the Belmond Orcaella at Yangon’s Nanthidar Jetty where upon arrival you will be treated to a buffet breakfast. Discover the small villages and farmlands peppered across the riverbank of the Twante Canal after leaving behind the bustling ports of Myanmar. Constructed in 1883 during British colonial rule, the canal was once used by the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company and to this day serves as a passageway for cargo ships and boats journeying from Yangon to the Delta Region and Upper Myanmar. Enjoy a relaxing lunch before spending the afternoon sailing and receiving an introductory lecture about the traditions of the Myanmar. Spend the night near Bo Myat Tun Bridge where the Belmond Orcaella will moor.

Day 4: Danuphyu & Sailing
Enjoy a tasty breakfast on board as the Belmond Orcaella sails towards Danuphyu where you can pay a visit to the Maha Bandula memorial, dedicated to a general who led a Burmese defensive against British troops during an Anglo-Burmese War, before continuing on to see a charming Burmese  cottage industry. Return to the ship late morning and spend the afternoon on board with tea and entertainment until the evening when a Myanmar folk dance on the Sundeck following dinner.

Day 5: Sailing
Spend the day in comfort aboard the ship as it makes its way towards the ancient capital of Myanmar, Pyay. En route, you will get the opportunity to view the distinct Cliff Carvings at Akauk Taung before enjoying cooking demonstrations, Longyi tying and Thanakha wearing followed by a pre-dinner Longyi cocktail party on the Observation Deck.

Day 6: Sri Ksetra & Sailing
In the morning you will arrive in Pyay and can visit the city of Sri Ksetra by bus, seeing such prominent sights as the cylindrical shaped stone stupas. On the way back to the Belmond Orcaella you can make a stop at the renowned Shwesandaw Pagoda and marvel at the towering Sitting Buddha who watches over this significant site. The afternoon can be spent relaxing aboard the ship along with a buffet lunch and afternoon tea.

Day 7: Gwechaung & Sailing
The morning sees you learning of the ‘Changes and current situation in Myanmar’ at a lecture on board before embarking on an excursion to the Gwechaung Fort. Transfer by local boat to Gewchaung Village where you will experience first-hand the rural lifestyle along the Ayeyarwady River on an ox-cart. The day ends with dinner served on shore at the Min Hla fort, the site of a great battle during the 1885 Anglo-Burmese War.

Day 8: Magwe & Sailing
Visit the town of Magwe in the morning by Tuk Tuk to experience the bustling market for a taste of the local lifestyle. Continue on to pay a visit to the iconic Myathalon Pagoda, a site where people journey to from miles around to participate in significant religious festivals. Head back aboard for lunch before spending the afternoon discovering the wares of Myanmar’s handy craft shops followed by afternoon tea. The day ends with dinner followed by evening entertainment to be enjoyed on the Sundeck.

Day 9: Salay - Bagan
Partake in a morning tour of Salay to visit the Yout-Saun-Kyaung, an ancient 19th century monastery made of wood before joining a sunset tour to several ancient sites scatted throughout and around Bagan where an experienced guide will take you to Ananda Temple, a splendidly preserved temple that dates back to 1100AD.

Day 10: Bagan
Transfer to shore in the morning to tour around the city of Bagan beginning with a visit to the morning market of Nyaung Oo followed by both Shwezigon Pagoda and Min Nan Thu, two significant temples located in the area. Continue on afterwards to a lacquer ware workshop to see how they produce their traditional products. The afternoon gives you the option of choosing an afternoon excursion; Uncover the Gubyauk Kyi Temple and Pwa Saw Village via bus, rent a bicycle for a private and active tour, or hire a horse and cart with a driver to ferry you around on a memorable sightseeing tour. Enjoy a farewell cocktail party with your fellow adventurers back aboard the ship where elephant dance performers entertain on the Sundeck, followed by one last dinner

Day 11: Bagan – Yangon
Disembark the Belmond Orcaella early morning to catch a return flight to Yangon for an overnight stay at the Belmond Governor’s Residence.
