Overview

Get back to nature with this unique 10 day Sydney and New South Wales itinerary. Experience the bustling vibe of the city, scenic mountain towns and one of the states most beautiful islands, staying in beautiful boutique accommodation along the way.

 

First stop is exciting Sydney, staying in The Rocks district. Take the opportunity to learn more about this area's rich heritage and its history as the birthplace of modern Sydney by adding on a tour with Dreamtime Southern X. Meander through the local markets and dine in one of the many cafes, restaurants or hotels in the area. Fill your days with the sights and sounds of the city before spending a night in Taronga Zoo. Staying in a safari style tent you will get to have a behind the scenes tour of the zoo before falling asleep to the sounds of the animals. 

 

Next, visit the UNESCO heritage listed Blue Mountains, staying in the town of Katoomba you will have access to all this area has to offer while staying in boutique eco accommodation, unique in style but with luxurious touches to make your stay extra special. Lastly, you will have three nights on the beautiful Lord Howe Island, located a two hour flight from Sydney, Lord Howe Island is a World Heritage listed paradise. Only 11km long and just under 3km wide the island may be small but with its landscape of rainforest, beaches, mountains and lagoons, and with only 400 visitors allowed on the island at any one time you certainly won't be short of tranquil spaces to explore.

Days 1-4

Sydney

Arriving in Sydney you will be taken to your hotel in the funky district of The Rocks where you will spend the next three nights. This historic area was occupied by European settlers as far back as 1788, providing the origin of modern Sydney, and with a rich history worth exploring. These days its a bustling precinct packed with quirky markets and delicious eateries.

 

Spend the next three days immersing yourself in the sights and sounds of the city. Visit one of the world's most famous architectural masterpieces, the Sydney Opera House. Book a tour for some behind the scenes intel or go and see one of the outstanding performances held throughout the year. Sample a cocktail in one of the many bars along Circular Quay or take an afternoon boat ride through the harbour for epic views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. 

 

Explore beyond the city with visits to the nearby beach suburbs of Bondi or Coogee and soak up the ocean air while enjoying a fresh coffee or delicious fish and chips.

Days 4-5

Taronga Zoo - Roar and Snore

After a final day of exploring the city this evening you will head to Taronga Zoo for your Roar and Snore experience! After check-in at six pm you will take a walk through the zoo grounds to your accommodation for the night.

 

Enjoy canapes and drinks looking out over Sydney Harbour before a buffet dinner and an exciting night excursion though the zoo! Go behind the scenes with the experienced zoo keepers and guides and learn about the fascinating world of the animals that live here.

 

This evening fall asleep in your safari style tent to the sounds of the zoo.

Days 5-7

Blue Mountains

Leaving the city behind, today you will collect your car and drive out to the Blue Mountains, where you will spend three nights exploring this world heritage area. Staying in the quaint village of Leura you will have two nights in boutique eco accommodation, unique in style but with luxurious touches to make your stay extra special.

 

Wander round the pretty village of Leura shopping at the eclectic boutiques or people watching from one of the street cafes. Visit one of the viewpoints for spectacular views of the surrounding areas, Jamison Valley and the Three Sisters.

 

Spend your days walking the trails, visiting cliff top lookouts, waterfalls and sandstone tablelands. With many ways to get around you can explore by foot, bicycle or e-bike. Adrenaline seekers can book trips to do abseiling, rock climbing and canyoning, or take the scenic railway for epic views of this wilderness area.

Days 7-10

Lord Howe Island

Last stop on your journey is a three night stay on the beautiful Lord Howe Island. Drop your car at Sydney airport and take the two hour flight to this Pacific paradise. Home to a permanent population of 350 and with no mobile coverage you can be sure of a true eco retreat during your stay.

 

Mountains and cliffs give way to sub tropical rainforests, beaches and clear lagoons. Explore the coral reef, home to over 500 species of fish or take a walk up to Kim's lookout for the best views across the island. During your stay you can be as active or as relaxed as you like, cycle round the island, play golf in the shadow of the mountains or simply enjoy a massage and kick back with a cold beverage.

 

Staying at the luxurious Arajilla Retreat you will feel immersed within the rainforest as you relax in your suite overlooking the palms.
