8 Day Great Eastern Cities

Arrive in New York City and transfer independently to your hotel. This first day is yours to enjoy at your leisure, before meeting your Tour Director at your hotel in the evening.

This morning, you can enjoy a city tour of the Big Apple, which includes some of the most famous sights of Manhattan. Catch a glimpse of the city’s famous skyline and take in major landmarks like the Empire State Building and Times Square. The rest of the day is yours to spend however you wish. Your Tour Director will be able to help you make additional, optional plans. Why not stroll through Central Park, enjoy a bird’s eye view on a Manhattan Helicopter Tour, or watch a fabulous show on Broadway?

It’s time to leave New York City and travel to upstate New York, winding through the Finger Lakes Countryside along Lake Seneca, named for the Seneca Indian Nation. Make a stop in Watkins Glen for a spot of local wine-tasting, then continue west and cross the international border into Canada, where you’ll stay overnight at the stunning Niagara Falls.

This morning, you’ll have time to explore Niagara Falls. Perhaps take a ride aboard Hornblower Cruises along the base of the falls, followed by an optional lunch overlooking the water. Or you could stroll along Table Rock to view the thundering waters of the Horseshoe Falls. Afterwards, you’ll leave Niagara and travel into Pennsylvania Dutch country – also known as Amish Country – for your overnight stay.

Today, you’ll travel through the Appalachian Mountains, along the picturesque Susquehanna River – it’s the longest river on the American East Coast. You’ll visit the historic Gettysburg Civil War National Battleground. It’s the site of the largest battle ever fought on American soil, and the place where President Lincoln gave his famous address in 1863. From here, you’ll journey to the nation’s capital, Washington DC, where you can choose to add on a memorable evening tour and dinner.

Tour the USA’s capital city, where there are all sorts of cultural and historical landmarks. Highlights include the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the White House and Arlington National Cemetery, which is the site of the JFK Memorial. Why not spend the remainder of the day exploring the many museums comprising the Smithsonian Institute? Or simply stroll the banks of the Potomac River.

This morning, continue your journey to Philadelphia, the “City of Brotherly Love” and the birthplace of America, where the Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4, 1776. Here, you’ll be able to see Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell on a comprehensive city tour.
