Overview

On this private six-day Jordan tour, you can discover the country’s cultural and historical highlights. And you can do it in comfort and style, in an air-conditioned car with an English-speaking driver.

You’ll be able to visit holy Mount Nebo, where Moses is said to be buried, and marvel at the ancient Madaba Map. Drive across the sands of Wadi Rum in a Jeep, rumbling past dramatic rock formations and rust-coloured dunes. And, of course, you can explore Jordan’s iconic attraction, the ancient Lost City of Petra.

But you’ll have plenty of time to relax, too. You can stroll around age-old Aqaba, unwind on the beach, and go snorkelling among coral reefs in the Red Sea. And you can float in the famous Dead Sea – the perfect end to your tour of Jordan.

day 1

Arrive in Amman

Once you land in Amman Airport, you’ll be met by your tour coordinator. Then you’ll set off with your English-speaking driver, who’ll take you to your hotel. You’ll spend the night in the capital city, Amman, ready to begin your Jordan adventure the next day.

day 2

Mount Nebo and Madaba

After breakfast, it’s time to set off for Mount Nebo. One of the holiest sites in Jordan, this sacred spot is where Moses is said to have seen the Promised Land – and he’s also rumoured to have been buried here. As well as boasting sweeping views, Mount Nebo is home to an ancient Byzantine church, which was visited by Pope John Paul II in 2001.

You’ll also visit St George’s Church in Madaba. This 19th-century church was unknowingly built on the site of a much earlier 6th-century Byzantine church, and the builders miraculously uncovered the Madaba Map. Crafted in 56AD, this ancient mosaic shows all the major biblical sites of the Middle East.

You’ll continue your journey and spend the night in Petra.

Day 3

Petra and Wadi Rum

Today, you’ll tick off two of Jordan’s top attractions. After breakfast, you’ll travel to the Lost City of Petra. Thought to have been built in the 5th century BC, this UNESCO-protected site is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World – and it’s not hard to see why. Carved into the rose-hued rocks, Petra’s temples, tombs and monasteries are an incredible sight.

Next, you’ll set off on a two-hour Jeep tour of Wadi Rum. Made famous by its appearance in Lawrence of Arabia, this lunar-like desert features dramatic cliffs and orange dunes. You’ll drive across the sands, explore deep canyons and see 4,000-year-old rock paintings.

You’ll then travel on to Aqaba, where you’ll stay the night.

Day 4

Aqaba

Spend today however you wish in Jordan’s only coastal city. Sun-soaked Aqaba is brushed by the Red Sea, so it’s a popular spot for snorkelling, diving and watersports. Don your snorkel and explore pristine reefs, go on a diving trip, or admire the corals from a glass-bottomed boat. Or you could spend your day ticking off Aqaba’s cultural sites. Admire the beautiful Sharif Hussein bin Ali Mosque, and learn more about the city’s past at Aqaba Archaeological Museum. History lovers should also make time for Aqaba Castle – sometimes known as Aqaba Fort – which was built by Crusaders in the 12th century.

You’ll spend the night in Aqaba.
