* Call for latest price and offersThis compact four-day adventure will see you journey from the Western Cape to the Eastern Cape, along scenic Route 62.
Departing from vibrant Cape Town, you’ll enjoy a variety of experiences from visiting an ostrich farm to touring the naturally sculpted limestone chambers of the Cango Caves, and gazing over the lush green winelands.
As you head further along the Garden Route, you’ll soak up beautiful vistas over a rugged coastline that’s studded with pristine beaches. And the inland terrain is no less awe-inspiring, with sparkling lagoons and lakes, verdant rolling hills and the epic Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountain ranges.
Finally, you’ll stop off to explore Tsitsikamma National Park. Take a bracing hike through the forest or walk along the suspension bridge over Storms River, which promises incredible views.
Take a deep breath and launch yourself into this South African adventure, ticking off some of the Garden Route’s many highlights as you venture through this stunning natural scenery.
Your adventure begins when you leave Cape Town and travel along Cape Route 62 – a scenic alternative to the highway.
After stopping off at the town of Barrydale for lunch, you’ll continue on to Oudtshoorn – known as the ostrich capital of the world. Visit an ostrich farm for a guided tour and see some of the huge flightless birds. You’ll check into your stylish accommodation in the late afternoon before enjoying an elegant dinner.
Surval Boutique Olive Estate (Dinner and Breakfast included)
This morning you’ll enjoy a tour of the Cango Caves – considered to be one of the natural wonders of the world. Situated at the foot of the Swartberg mountain range, the extensive network of illuminated limestone chambers is linked by a series of tunnels which run for about four kilometres, although only a quarter of this is open to visitors.
Your journey continues to the charming town of Knysna. Set beside a sparkling blue lagoon – and considered the gem of the Garden Route – you’ll enjoy some time at leisure at the Knysna Waterfront.
At the pretty coastal fishing town of Plettenberg Bay, you’ll take a cruise up the tranquil Keurbooms River before arriving at your lodge where you’ll spend the next two nights. There’s time to freshen up and relax before dinner.
Hunter’s Country House (Breakfast included)
Today you’ll travel to Plettenberg Bay for a visit to Birds of Eden – the largest free-flight bird aviary in the world. Birds of Eden created a safe environment in which to release a large collection of free-flight African birds and the sanctuary also enables bird owners to apply to release their pet birds into the sanctuary, after undergoing rehabilitation.
Hunter’s Country House (Breakfast included)
After breakfast and checking-out of your lodge, you’ll take the final leg of the Garden Route to Tsitsikamma National Park.
Tsitsikamma is an utterly spectacular area, with a wealth of unspoilt natural beauty, from thundering rivers to deep ravines, and lush forests to rocky shoreline. Take a hike along trails through the fine coastal and mountain fynbos or cross the suspension bridge which spans the churning Storms River mouth. And you may spot dolphins or Southern Right whales out to sea, as well as baboons, monkeys, antelope and plenty of birdlife within the park.
On leaving Tsitsikamma, you’ll head to Port Elizabeth where your tour ends and you’ll be dropped-at your chosen hotel or the airport.
