You'll spend 15 days traveling around – but you can kick back and relax, as this tour is fully escorted on a luxury coach with a knowledgeable tour manager.
On your tour, you’ll go back in time to the Wild West in Colorado, travel along the famed Oregon Trail, see the four Presidential faces of Mount Rushmore, and admire the beauty of Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Teton Mountain Range and the Garden of the Gods. Denver is a blend of Old Western Heritage and modern skyscrapers surrounded by urban streets. Arrive in the city and admire the impressive backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, as you transfer independently to your hotel and meet your ATI Tour Director.
Overnight – Doubletree by Hilton Denver Cherry Creek
First on today’s agenda is a short city tour of the ‘Mile High City’, which includes the gold-domed State Capital. On the west side of the building the 13th step is exactly 5,280 feet above sea level – one mile high. Leaving the city behind, your coach will enter the Rocky Mountain National Park, where you can explore 415 square miles of spectacular landscapes. Travel along Trail Ridge Road – also known as the Highway to the Sky – and be amazing by the jaw-dropping scenery. You'll wind past countless peaks, through vast tundra and across the Continental Divide. Continue on to Cheyenne, Wyoming’s capital city. This place is also the USA's railroad capital, as it's home to a collection of steam engines, including Old Number 4004. It's the world’s largest steam locomotive and one of the country's eight remaining Big Boys on display.
Overnight – Red Lion Hotel & Conference Centre Cheyenne
Start day three with a visit to Fort Laramie National Historic Site. It was originally a private fur trading fort, and then evolved into the largest and best-known military post on the Northern Plains. You'll continue on though the majestic South Dakota Black Hills to Mount Rushmore National Memorial, where you'll come face-to-face with George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.

Cross back into Wyoming as you make the journey to Cody. On the way, you'll travel through Bighorn National Forest and admire the undisturbed rolling hills, alpine lakes, craggy cliffs, pine forests, and the Bighorn Mountains which dominate the landscape. When the coach reaches Cody, you’ll visit Buffalo Bill Museum which celebrates the spirit of the American West and the founder of the town, William F. ‘Buffalo Bill’ Cody. In the evening, you can look forward to lively rodeos, gun fight re-enactments and cowboy music (seasonal).

Today, you'll make an unforgettable journey into Yellowstone National Park – America’s first national park and nature’s wonderland. Discover geysers, mountains, rivers, waterfalls and ancient volcanoes. Iconic spots include Old Faithful, the Grand Prismatic Spring and Yellowstone Canyon. You may have seen them in photographs, but witnessing them in person is a humbling experience. There's also plenty of wildlife to see in Yellowstone, including eagles, grizzly and black bears, buffalo and elk.
Overnight – Gray Wolf Inn/Yellowstone Park Hotel
Grand Teton National Park is just south of Yellowstone. You can expect to see an exquisite mountain landscape rising above pristine lakes and alpine terrain, as well as a monument to the people who fought to protect it. Stop off at the Snake River Outlook, a location made famous by Ansel Adams, where you'll be able to appreciate the full size of the Tetons. Continue onto Jackson Hole, a scenic spot surrounded by mountains.
Overnight – 49’er Inn and Suites/Virginian
Travel south today though scenic Southern Idaho and on to Salt Lake City, the state capital of Utah famous for its Mormon Community. When you reach Salt Lake City, you can tick off the State Capitol Building and Temple Square, home to the six-spired Salt Lake Temple and domed Tabernacle of the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir. In the evening, we'd recommend dining at The Roof Restaurant which offers an extravagant buffet and great city views.
Overnight – Crystal Inn Hotel & Suites Salt Lake City – Downtown
Today you'll discover Canyonlands National Park, where the scenery is different to anything else you’ll have seen so far. Pass by countless canyons and fantastically formed buttes carved out by the Colorado River. The park is divided into four districts – there's the Island in the Sky, the Needles, the Maze, and the rivers themselves. Visit some of the most scenic spots in the Island in the Sky, sitting 1,000 meters above the surrounding terrain. Then continue onto Moab for your overnight stay.

You'll visit one of Utah Mighty 5 national parks today, Arches National Park. Home to contrasting colours, landforms and textures, this place is unlike anywhere else in the world. There are more than 2,000 natural stone arches, as well as hundreds of soaring pinnacles and giant balanced rocks. This unique red rock wonderland with amaze you as well as inspire you. Return to Moab late afternoon for a second overnight stay.

Today your tour crosses into Arizona, where you'll travel to Chinle, passing cacti in all shapes and sizes as you go. Chinle is the gateway to Canyon de Chelly National Monument, which is on Navajo tribal land and known for its steep canyon walls and ancient pueblo ruins. Learn about the canyon’s earliest inhabitants through the distinctive architecture, artefacts and picturesque vistas of rocky outcroppings, which are remarkably well preserved.
Overnight – Holiday Inn Canyon De Chelly
Today’s journey takes you through the Navajo Reservation and dramatic lands of western New Mexico to Gallup. Gallup serves up a slice of Americana rarely seen nowadays, along with one of the best strips of neon signs along this route. Get off the coach and stroll along the Plaza, dine at one of the many restaurants, and shop for some unique Southwestern gifts.
Overnight – Best Western Plus Rio Grande Inn
This morning, you'll travel along the Turquoise Trail – the scenic byway that links Albuquerque to Santa Fe. The route is named after the turquoise deposits found throughout the area, so keep your eyes peeled as you drive. Santa Fe is the nation’s oldest capital city, nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Set against a landscape that inspired Georgia O’Keeffe’s startlingly colourful paintings, this place is a paradise for history buffs and culture-lovers. You'll have some leisure time in the afternoon, giving you the opportunity to explore one of the city's world-renowned art galleries.
Overnight – The Lodge at Santa Fe
Follow the Rio Grande River as it winds its way through canyons and red rock cliffs before rising to a spectacular view of the rich landscape of Taos valley. You'll stop off to visit the only living Native American community, a National Historic Landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then you'll head north from Taos towards Colorado, where you can discover the favourable climate which has lured travellers to Colorado Springs for years. Visit the Garden of the Gods en route, and delight in the photogenic landscape made up of towering red sandstone formations set against snow-capped Pikes Peak and glorious blue skies.
