If you want to combine city sights with laidback beaches, consider a multi-centre holiday to Singapore and Fiji. The Lion City is a fascinating melting pot of Chinese, Indian and Malaysian cultures, home to varied architecture, eye-popping attractions and mouth-watering cuisine. Meanwhile, Fiji’s picturesque islands are all about lazy days in the sun. You can go snorkelling among vibrant corals, curl up with a book on the sugary sands, and relax in your luxurious island resort.
Over half way between the UK and the South Pacific, Singapore is perfectly placed for a stop on your way to Fiji. Spend a few days here ticking off the top attractions like the Botanical Gardens, Sentosa Island and Singapore Zoo. Stroll around the stunning Gardens by the Bay, and sip a fruity Singapore Sling in the famous Raffles Hotel. In the evenings, you can take your pick from the city’s hawker centres – these casual marketplaces serve up all kinds of fantastic street food. Make sure you try Singapore’s signature dish, chilli crab, before you go.
After the hustle and bustle of Singapore, it’s time to relax in idyllic Fiji. You can stay on the main island, Viti Levu, or head to one of the smaller isles in the Mamnuca or Yasawa archipelagos. Wherever you choose, you can expect to find tropical greenery and postcard-worthy beaches, complete with pure-white sands and gin-clear waters. Snorkel through untouched reefs, kayak across secluded bays, and go diving among deep crevices and shipwrecks. You can explore further with an island-hopping boat trip, or simply relax at your beachfront resort with a cocktail in hand.
