Overview

If you want to combine city living with some beach time, consider a multi-centre holiday to Kuala Lumpur and Bali. Start your adventure with a few days of sightseeing in Malaysia’s capital, where you can explore bustling markets and tranquil temples – all surrounded by glittering skyscrapers.

Next, it’s time to slow things right down in Bali. On this Indonesian island, you can soak up some rays on gorgeous beaches, sip cocktails by the sea, and tuck into flavour-filled cuisine. If you’d prefer to keep active, why not stretch out with some yoga or go snorkelling among Bali’s coral reefs?

Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur

Affectionately known as KL, this city is a great place to start your holiday. Multicultural Kuala Lumpur is a melting pot of Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures, reflected in both the diverse architecture and rich cuisine. There’s a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, too, so make sure you check the calendar to see what’s on while you’re in town. Whenever you visit, you can see the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, wander around colourful Chinatown, and visit the grand Batu Caves, which are adorned with 100-year-old Hindu shrines and idols.

Bali

After your city break, it’s time for some well-earned beach time in beautiful Bali. You can go snorkelling in turquoise waters, unwind in sleepy Sanur, or learn to surf in chilled-out Seminyak. But this diverse island has plenty more to offer beyond the coast, so try to explore if you can. Tranquil Ubud, in the heart of Bali, is certainly worth a visit. This place has a huge focus on culture and wellness, so you can expect to find yoga retreats, traditional dance shows and incense-filled temples. Make sure you head to Ubud’s famous Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, too, where you’ll be able to see playful Balinese long-tailed monkeys.
