Located on the Bentota Peninsula, Centara Ceysands Resort and Spa is flanked by the Bentota River on one side and the Indian Ocean on the other. With beaches lining both sides, there’s an island feel to this Sri Lankan resort. With palm trees bordering the promenade, and flora and fauna lining the water’s edge, this is a relaxing tropical haven. But, when you want to explore, the nearest town is just a short boat-ride away.
Centara Ceysands Resort and Spa is the ideal location for watersports enthusiasts. A huge outdoor swimming pool is the focal point. Stretching the length of the resort, it features a whirlpool and a separate kids’ pool. There’s also a watersports centre offering adrenaline-seekers the chance to try wakeboarding, jet-skiing and rubber dinghy rafting, as well as more leisurely pursuits like canoeing, sailing and snorkelling. River safaris and deep-sea fishing trips are another option for a relaxing time out on the water.
Rest and rejuvenation are a key aspect of the services available at the resort, best observed at Spa Cenvaree. Taking inspiration from Thailand’s wellbeing heritage and traditional healing routines, the spa provides a range of treatments including Ayurvedic therapies, Indian head massage and couples’ massages. After a relaxing treatment, head to one of the resort’s five restaurants and bars where you can dine on fresh seafood, Thai-inspired recipes and rich Sri Lankan flavours.
Dine al fresco and watch boats cruise up and down the river. Choose from Sri Lankan, Asian and international dishes from the à la carte menu or buffet option, and marvel at the live cooking stations.
Views of both the Bentota River and Indian Ocean accompany your meal at 360 Restaurant. The dish of choice is freshly caught seafood, prepared every which way, but always with tangy Asian flavours.
This comfortable lounge serves up the region’s most famous tradition, Ceylon tea, alongside other refreshments and snacks in its cosy surrounds
If you can’t quite tear yourself away from the pool’s fabulous ocean views, this swim-up bar is perfectly placed to grab a cooling drink.
Thai cuisine takes centre stage at Suan Bua. Dishes such as smooth curries, locally sourced seafood and spicy noodles are on the menu. There are also Sri Lankan sweet treats to round off your meal
The rooms and suites at Centara Ceysands Resort and Spa are dotted up and down the peninsula, some shrouded by palms and others just steps from the pool. They all feature a balcony or terrace for evenings spent enjoying the river view with a drink. Inside, earthy tones contrast with bright pops of colour that mirror the island’s warmth
