Located in the malaria-free Eastern Cape of South Africa, Lalibela Game Reserve is the ideal place to see some of Africa’s most treasured animals. Spanning five ecosystems, it’s home to a vast array of flora and fauna, including vast savannah grassland. Hoards of lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas and jackals all thrive in the area and roam freely. When you stay at Tree Tops Safari Lodge, you’ll be able to see conservation work in action, with a number of projects in place to protect the vegetation, wildlife and local communities.
Each morning and evening, you’ll be out in the savannah spotting the ‘Big Five’ with an experienced guide, who will help you spot even the most elusive animals. With all your meals included and timed around your safaris, you’ll never have to worry about going hungry. And you’ll always have someone to share the experience with – whether you’re on a game drive, eating your evening meal, or sat around the boma looking at the stars. Getting to know other guests is part of the joy of a Lalibela Game Reserve safari.
Tree Tops Safari Lodge is a unique place to stay. All the rooms and many of the facilities are constructed on wooden platforms to minimise their impact on the vegetation. It also means you’ll be staying high up among the valley’s verdant trees. From your veranda, you’ll be able to spot local antelope drinking from the waterhole, and see multi-coloured Knysna Loerie flying between the branches.
All your meals and most drinks are included, so you can sit back and enjoy contemporary African dishes as you dine with other guests.
Fancy a tipple? Head to the cosy bar hosted inside a thatched tent, where you can choose from an extensive drinks list.
All the safari tents rest on platforms, putting you up among the birds at treetop level. There’s a walkway to reach your room, where you’ll be greeted with views across the valley and waterhole. With huge windows and your own veranda, you won’t even have to leave your room in order to spot local wildlife, including gazelles and elephants.
