A stay at One&Only Le Saint Géran is pure indulgence – if you’re craving some R&R, you’ll be hard pushed to find somewhere better. First there’s the idyllic location. Set on a private peninsula on Mauritius’ Belle Mare coastline, the resort’s surrounded by two kilometres of sugary white sand and 60 acres of lush tropical gardens. And of course the whole thing’s lapped by the sparkling waters of the Indian Ocean. On top of that, there’s the blissful One&Only Spa, where you can enjoy head-to-toe pampering, and five restaurants so you can sample cuisines from around the globe.
Much of Mauritius is adults-only territory, but things at One&Only Le Saint Géran have very much been designed with kids in mind. Besides a dedicated family swimming pool and earlier dinner times at certain restaurants for those with kiddies under two, there are a bunch of clubs which cater to specific age groups. You can drop three to seven-year-olds off at KidsOnly, there’s TweensOnly for eight to 12-year-olds, and those aged 13 to 17 can spend some time at One Tribe. Under the watchful eye of dedicated supervisors, your little travellers can meet new friends, try their hands at arts and crafts, go on treasure hunts, play various sports and enjoy barbecues, bonfires, karaoke and snorkelling trips. And if your child’s particularly active, there are even youth fitness classes on offer.
While it’s easy to keep active at Tamassa, you can also take some well-deserved time out. In the heart of the landscape gardens, perfectly blended with its natural surroundings, LUX* Me Spa is a tranquil hideaway. Take your pick from a range of therapeutic massages, facials and body wraps. Or simply soak in the hot tub, sweat out any toxins in the sauna, and unwing in the hammam. There’s also a 12-metre pool here, if you fancy a dip.
Enjoy panoramic ocean views and small plate dining at this wonderful overwater restaurant. Open on select days for dinner only, it serves pan-Asian cuisine with a Spanish twist.
This elegant steakhouse serves premium meat and freshly caught seafood alongside seasonal, organic produce. As well as a wine-tasting table , sociable sharing table and intimate booths, there’s also an outdoor terrace, if you fancy dinner under the stars.
Open daily for breakfast and dinner, this relaxed waterside spot is the place to go for al fresco dining. The menu highlights Mauritius’ French and Creole connections, but other cuisines often make an appearance too.
This artisanal bakery serves salads, sandwiches and sweet treats throughout the day, from 7:30am to 10:30pm – and of course there’s a range of hot and cold drinks available too.
Steps away from the beach and the Palm Grove pool, La Pointe is a laidback Mauritian barbecue restaurant. The resort’s skilled chefs cook the catch of the day over coconut and firewood, and waiters then deliver it directly to you in your private cabana.
The rooms at One&Only Le Saint Géran make the perfect home away from home. Spacious and airy with contemporary interiors, they’re chic but inviting, with light wooden furniture and soft furnishings in muted tones. The addition of a large private terrace or balcony means you can fully embrace the concept of indoor/outdoor living, plus all rooms offer incredible views – either of the Indian Ocean or the resort’s beautiful turquoise lagoon.
