Snuggle up under the stars and spend the night in this unique bush hideaway, hidden away in the eucalyptus trees. Paperbark Camp has an Advanced Eco Accreditation, so you won’t find air-con or a TV here. Instead, you’ll be treated to a wrap-around deck, solar-powered lighting, top-quality linens, and handmade soaps and lotions made from natural ingredients. Your luxury safari-style tent also includes a private open-air bathroom, so you can watch kangaroos while you enjoy a steaming hot shower. But, for a camping experience like no other, opt for a deluxe tent. Complete with a free-standing bath and contemporary furnishings, this place will be hard to leave.
Paperbark Camp is an ideal base from which to explore the spectacular Jervis Bay area. With its pristine beaches and award-winning national parks, this place is a playground for outdoor enthusiasts. Just a two-and-a-half-hour drive south of Sydney, it’s an ideal place to visit on a self-drive holiday, and having a car will allow you to see the best of this incredible part of New South Wales. Hyams Beach is one of the star attractions – famed for its dazzling stretch of white sands and its safe, turquoise waters – but there are also lagoons, secret coves and cute coastal villages. Expect to find local markets, art galleries, great cafes, restaurants and pubs, plus a burgeoning music scene.
In the heart of Paperbark Camp, the Gunyah – which is Aboriginal for ‘meeting place’ – is where you’ll find the restaurant, reception, bar and communal lounge. The Gunyah is a unique space, built high off the ground so you can enjoy the sea breeze from your treetop position. In the warmer months, you can dine on the veranda, where you’ll be able to see the goings-on of local possums, sugar gliders and birds. In winter, meanwhile, you can curl up by the open fire in the cosy lounge. Breakfast and a set three-course dinner are both included, and light snacks are available in the afternoon. You can also help yourself to tea or coffee at anytime.
The Gunyah is the centre of camp life. Raised above the ground, this is the place to eat, relax and admire the views. Breakfast, snacks and a three-course set dinner are all served here.
Built above the ground on a timber platform, each African-inspired safari tent has been thoughtfully placed amongst the soaring trees and to immerse you in nature.
