Destinations for a Hot Holiday

Whether you want to drink cocktails by the pool, relax on a beautiful beach, or discover exotic cultures, we can help you find the perfect spot for your holiday in the sun. While several destinations enjoy great weather all year round – like Barbados and St Lucia in the Caribbean, and the stunning Thai islands of Phuket and Koh Samui – others are more seasonal, so you’ll need to time your trip carefully if you want some winter sun. Perhaps you’re considering a visit to an iconic US holiday destination, like Florida or Las Vegas? Or maybe you’d like to know when you should go to the Middle East, to avoid the stiflingly hot summer? Whatever you’re planning, read on to find out where you should go next for a hot holiday.

When should you go on a Hot Holiday?

December, January and February all ignite the urge for some winter sun, as the days get shorter and temperatures plummet. The classic choice is the Caribbean. Several islands offer picture-perfect beaches and endless sunny days, with temperatures in the mid-to-high twenties. Thailand is another great option, with the mercury reaching the low-to-mid thirties. And there’s plenty to do, thanks to the country’s great snorkelling, lively cities and quiet temples. Alternatively, you could go to the Middle East. Despite being the country’s coldest month, December is a great time to fly to the UAE, with Abu Dhabi and Dubai enjoying pleasant temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius. In Australia, meanwhile, February is the height of summer. It’s the perfect time to see the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, catch a wave on the infamous Bondi Beach, and soak up some vitamin D on the Gold Coast.

If the weather at home doesn’t fill you with the joys of spring, why not go somewhere hot in March, April or May? Indonesia is a popular holiday destination in spring, thanks to its 30-degree days, captivating beaches and volcanic landscape. March is also a great time to visit Africa. From the north to the south, this giant continent offers a plethora of delights. You can explore bazaars and deserts in Morocco, or party in South Africa at the Cape Town Carnival. Or, you could venture to Asia in May. The likes of Hong Kong and Singapore get great weather in spring, and you can beat the crowds that come with the summer months. The Maldives is another great option for spring. Sandwiched between the blazing summer and monsoon seasons, May is a great time to see these islands’ white-sand beaches and turquoise waters.

The summer months of June, July and August are peak holiday season, when destinations across the world experience soaring temperatures and seemingly endless sunny days. One tempting choice is North America, where popular hotspots like New York and Orlando bask in temperatures of at least 30 degrees Celsius. In Canada, meanwhile, you can get your sunshine fix in cosmopolitan Toronto, or head to the west coast to discover the pristine natural beauty of British Columbia. If you’re looking for serious heat, book a break in the desert cities of Dubai or Abu Dhabi, or have a flutter in neon-lit Las Vegas. Prefer somewhere a little cooler? Consider booking a holiday to Central America, where Costa Rica and Mexico have tropical jungles, stunning beaches and summer temperatures in the high twenties.

If you want to keep the summer vibes going as Europe starts to cool down, book an exotic holiday for September, October or November. This is the perfect time to visit Southeast Asia, where the majority of countries are in their dry season and temperatures float around 27 degrees. Tempting holiday options include exploring the imposing temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, or snorkelling with tropical fish in Thailand’s clear waters. If you fancy going somewhere a little warmer, then Cancun in Mexico could be just what you’re looking for. The mercury hovers around 30 degrees Celsius even in November, so you can hit the beach, swim in the bath-warm seas and top up your tan before Christmas. Another Caribbean option is Barbados. This beautiful island hosts its annual food and rum festival in November – what better way to enjoy the 27-degree heat?
