Eilat Holidays

Get inspiration

EASY PEASY EILAT

A holiday to Eilat will take you to Israel’s southernmost point. Sandwiched between Egypt and Jordan, this sun-soaked strip is nearly 200 miles south of Jerusalem. But Eilat’s far-flung location is part of its appeal, as this is where you’ll find some of Israel’s best beaches. Most of the country’s coast lies on the Mediterranean Sea, but Eilat’s shores are lapped by the bath-warm Red Sea, whose waters are perfect for swimming, snorkelling and diving.

So it’s hardly surprising that Eilat holidays are all about beach time. The six-mile coastline is peppered with golden bays and squeaky-clean stretches of sand, where you’ll find all sorts of exciting activities. There’s a variety of watersports on offer, ranging from adrenaline-pumping windsurfing and tubing, to more sedate options like kayaking and paddle-boarding. Or you could simply get comfy on a sun lounger and watch the world go by.

Couples and families alike will love the snorkelling opportunities available on a holiday to Eilat. Don a mask and flippers, and discover rich coral reefs where you’ll be able to see turtles, octopi and fish. You can even see wild dolphins splashing about at the aptly-named Dolphin Reef. And, if you’ve always wanted to learn to scuba dive, Eilat has more than 20 dive schools for you to choose from.

After an action-packed day on the beach, you can hop between Eilat’s bars and eateries. Whether you’re looking for a cosy pub with live music or a fancy seafront restaurant, this place ticks all the boxes. And night owls will appreciate Eilat’s lively bars and clubs, which open late and don’t close until dawn. Whether you’re drawn to the nightlife or the marine life, our travel specialists will help you plan your ideal trip to Eilat.

Eilat beaches

Brushed by the balmy Red Sea, Eilat’s coast stretches for 10 kilometres – so it’s only natural that you’ll spend a lot of your Eilat holiday on the beach. There are dozens to choose from, ranging from sandy swathes to pebbly bays. And you can look forward to safe, clean spots for swimming, as all the beaches are plastic-free and most have lifeguards.

You can relax on a lounger on Golden Beach, play volleyball on Village Beach, or dine in one of the seafront restaurants at Mosh Beach. Or, if you’re into watersports, head to Kisuki Beach or Electric Company Beach for tubing, kayaking, jet-skiing and more.

Snorkelling and diving are also popular pastimes in Eilat, as the Red Sea is full of colourful corals and tropical fish. Bar Beach and Coral Beach Nature Reserve are the best spots for snorkelling or, if you fancy learning to dive, why not book a lesson at one of Eilat’s dive schools?

Things to do in Eilat

As you’ve probably realised, Eilat holidays are very much focused on the coast. And one place you must visit is Dolphin Reef. This natural reef is home to all kinds of exotic fish, but the bottle-nosed dolphins are the star of the show. Completely wild, these gentle creatures are used to visitors in their bay – so you’ll be able to watch them swim and play in their natural habitat, without disturbing them. After some time in the water, why not chill out with a cold drink at the beach bar, or enjoy a soak in the relaxation pools?

If you’d prefer to stay dry, the Underwater Observatory Marine Park should be on your list of things to do in Eilat. You can marvel at marine life without so much as dipping your toes in the water, as you watch rays, turtles, sharks and thousands of fish.

When you fancy a day away from the coast, head to the Harei Eilat, also known as Eilat Mountains. Just north of the port, this dramatic mountain range has towering peaks and deep canyons, which you can explore in a 4x4 or on foot. Admire the rust-coloured sandstone walls of the Red Canyon, and hike to the top of Mount Amir for panoramic views.

Eilat's nightlife

During the day, Eilat is all about sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling. But once the sun goes down, the port’s bars and clubs come to life. Whether you’re looking for classy cocktails or a night on the tiles, Eilat’s nightlife scene has got you covered.

With a pub-like atmosphere, laidback Bardak offers great beer and a range of wines, served to the soundtrack of live music and DJ sets. But if you fancy sophisticated cocktails, grab a table at NYC-inspired Fifth Avenue – a cocktail lounge specialising in handcrafted drinks and tasty bites from Mexico and Asia. Cocktail-lovers should also have high-end bar Jasper 08 on their list. Chic and contemporary, it’s perfect for a date night or pre-dinner drinks.

If you want to dance the night away, though, head to Selena. Well-known for its top DJs and incredible light shows, this open-air place is reminiscent of Ibiza’s superclubs. Prefer to party indoors? Make tracks for Crazy Elephant, where a massive dance floor awaits.
