Beach Holidays in Dubai

Dubai’s beaches seamlessly combine turquoise seas and water sports with family-friendly facilities and top refreshments. The famous Jumeirah Beach offers a long swathe of pristine sand – some parts areas are reserved by various luxury hotels, but not all. In Jumeirah Beach Park, everyone is welcome to relax in the sun, stroll around the cafes, or cook up a tasty barbecue. Elsewhere, Kite Beach and Burj al Arab Beach are great for families travelling with teenagers, thanks to their focus on water sports – think banana boating, kayaking and more. Other spots, like Barasti Beach and – the imaginatively named – The Beach are more geared towards lively beach days. Couples and groups of friends can work their way around the restaurants and bars, or try some more unusual activities, like fly boarding or bungee-trampolining. Meanwhile, you’ll find most of the romantic beaches at The Palm. Anantara Beach and Rixos Beach are just two of the sugary stretches here, where you can indulge in a massage or a crushed-ice cocktail. Contrary to popular belief, it’s perfectly fine for tourists to drink in Dubai, as long as you’re in a licensed venue.

Why is Dubai a Perfect beach destination?

When you book a beach holiday to Dubai, you can be sure of one thing above all else – sunshine. Even in the winter months, temperatures hover at a steady 25-degree average, and regularly reach 40 degrees in July and August. During your trip, you’ll be free to work on your tan – it’s fine to wear swimwear on the beach or by the pool in Dubai. If you get too warm, you can always retreat to a shady cafe for a little refreshment, or explore one of Dubai’s many shopping malls. Of course, your luxury accommodation will be air-conditioned too, providing a welcome retreat from the sunshine. Whilst it may seem like a couple’s destination, Dubai is also brilliant for family beach holidays. As well as having beach playgrounds, entertainment areas and water parks, the city even has pop-up theatre shows in the shopping malls – so you can browse the designer shops while the kids are being entertained. In the new Al Barsha Mall, you’ll have no trouble at all keeping the little ones happy, as they can play in the Magic Planet indoor centre.

Why is Dubai a Perfect beach destination?

The City of World Cuisine

Dubai holidays come with guaranteed sunshine, sandy stretches, warm waters – but that’s not all. Once you’ve watched the sun sink below the horizon, this city completely shifts. In fact, you might be surprised by just how may bars there are in Dubai. Sip cocktails in classy waterside bars, have a beer in an Irish pub, or grab a drink on a roof terrace and gaze at the soaring skyline. Restaurants are plentiful, with every cuisine imaginable on the menu. Traditional options are also available, such as the simple slow-cooked Al Harees, or the popular kebab-like Shawarma ,served in a wrapping of Arabic Roti. Meat-eaters will also be encouraged to try roast camel.

The Biggest and the Best

It’s called the City of Superlatives for a reason. Among other things, Dubai is home to the world’s biggest shopping mall, tallest hotel, and largest indoor theme park. Even if you’re just visiting for the beaches, sightseeing in Dubai is a must. You can’t miss the chance to travel up to the stratospheric observation deck of the Burj Khalifa – the tallest building in the world. You’ll be greeted with stunning views of the entire region, and all the man-made islands, as planes fly past below. It’s so high that, from the top, you can continue to see the sun for two or three minutes after the sun has set on the ground-level. You can also look through the augmented reality telescope – this shows the real-time landscape, plus previous images taken at different times of day, in different weather conditions.

Desert Safaris

If you fancy a break from the beach, why not head into the desert? Wildlife enthusiasts can take a safari trip to see gazelle herds, wild oryx and the Arabian red fox, all in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve – it’s the UAE’s first national park, created to conserve the desert habitat. Alternatively, bird-watchers will love Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary, where you can see flamingos, grey herons and sea eagles. For something a little more adrenaline-inducing, try a desert activity like sand-boarding or a 4x4 drive through the dunes. Back in Dubai itself, you’ll find the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo – or why not take a boat trip out to sea, to see wild dolphins in their natural habitat?
