Bring lightweight, breathable clothing. Casual clothing is common, just be sure to cover up when visiting temples, palaces and other public places. The sun is almost always out during the day, so sunscreen, hats and sunglasses are essential.
It is advisable to bring a first aid kit, complete with insect repellent, a mosquito net, water purification tablets rehydrating solutions, and other pain medications and antibiotics. The community atmosphere and oftentimes lack of privacy means that any valuables should be kept locked up. Bring padlocks for precious belongings. Also pack plenty of waterproof bags to protect cameras, phones and other items from the natural elements. A pocket-sized torch will also come in handy. It may also be a good idea to bring snorkelling equipment, tents sleeping bags and other outdoor items depending on your plans.
The weather throughout Hua Hin and Cha Am is relatively constant year-round. While the area does experience three distinct seasons, the warm weather can make it difficult for visitors to differentiate between the three. Throughout the year, daily averages reach 27°C.
The three seasons are referred to as “cool and dry", "hot" and "rainy." The dry season runs from November to February. These days are filled with sun, afternoon winds, average temperatures of 26.5°C and little rainfall. This is often considered the best time to visit.
The hot season is from March to June, during which daytime temperatures can reach 29°C and higher, with high humidity levels. Lastly, the rainy season extends from July to October. The average temperature is 28°C during the day and slightly cooler at night. Afternoon rain showers are common, and while the area does not receive the same amount of rain as other parts of the country, it still sees occasional downpours and flooding.
