All-inclusive Holidays to Maldives

The Maldives are made up of a collection of around 1,200 tiny atolls, and it’s one of the most beautiful all-inclusive destinations in the world. Anchored a south-west of India, the islands are blessed with wonderful weather all year round. About 200 of the islands are inhabited by the local population, while another 100 house exclusive resorts, offering the holiday of a lifetime. Relaxation is the principal pastime in the Maldives, with visitors spending their days in magazine-worthy accommodation. Book a fabulous overwater bungalow, and enjoying the delicious food and drinks – they’re all included in the price of your holiday. Most activities in the Maldives are centred round the water, including some of the best diving in the world. Or see the atolls and beaches from above on a flight over the reefs. All visitors to the Maldives can enter visa-free, providing that you have proof of onward travel and a reservation or sufficient funds for the duration of your stay. The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa.

Why Choose an All-inclusive Holiday to the Maldives?

Put simply, there is no other way to experience the Maldives than at a luxury all-inclusive resort. Often, a single resort will occupy one tiny island, so staying at a resort makes the whole experience simply magical. But the luxurious overwater bungalows, for which the Maldives are so famous, are the ultimate place to stay on the atolls. Sleek rooms come equipped with snacks, water and drinks, so you can spend all day relaxing on your private balcony or swimming in crystal-clear waters, before enjoying a gourmet dinner at your luxury beach resort. With this type of trip, everything is paid for in advance – the resort will probably pick you up from a designated meeting point and take you to your island. Food, drinks and activities are all included in the price. An all-inclusive trip for two to the Maldives is the perfect romantic getaway or honeymoon. Tranquillity is the word of the day here, as you spend quality time together on one of Mother Nature’s finest creations.

Things to do in Maldives

Relaxing in the Maldives

The Maldives are, without question, a place of unparalleled serenity. It’s a place to unwind and unplug – the main thing to do is simply spend your days relaxing at your resort, soaking up the sunshine and the scenery. Many of the resorts offer accommodation in spectacular water bungalows, so you really want to make the most of your time in this unique location. When else in your life can you step out of bed and dive straight into the warm waters of the Indian Ocean? The Maldives exude an inescapable air of luxury, so make sure you treat yourself. A massage or spa treatment should be high on your agenda on your all-inclusive holiday. A Balinese massage is a popular choice – and it's even more special if you book a couple’s session to share the experience.

Take to the Water

The Maldives’ beautiful beach resorts are among the world's most fantastic locations for scuba diving. Certified PADI centres are located all across the islands, where experienced divers can enjoy a free dive, or novices can obtain their open water certificate. Stingrays, sharks and even sea turtles are just some of the marine life lucky enough to call the Indian Ocean home. If diving isn't your thing, try snorkelling instead – you can still get up close and personal with majestic sea turtles. Water sports are incredibly popular too, with everything from banana boat rides to stand-up paddle-boarding – keep your eyes peeled for fish as you go. Lots of resorts in the Maldives will include water sports in the price when you book an all-inclusive trip.

Shopping in the Maldives

In addition to being one of the world's premier all-inclusive destinations, the Maldives are also surprisingly good for retail therapy. Shopping here is quite different from anywhere else, but the range of charming crafts and local products is very impressive for such a small collection of islands. Male Central Market is one of the best places to pick up a trinket. The stalls are bursting with colour, and there are plenty of food vendors – fresh coconut milk, confectionery, breadfruit chips and nuts are some of the treats on sale. Another shopping hot-spot is Majeedhee Magu where you’ll find everything from handicrafts and clothes, to electronics to jewellery. If you're looking for some duty-free goods to take home, then Le Cute is one of the most reputable stores in the Maldives, offering a wide collection of perfumes, chocolates and cosmetics.
