Known as “The Theme Park Capital of the World” Orlando is the home of Disney World, Universal Studios and SeaWorld, as well as a handful of smaller parks and attractions. However the unofficial motto of the city is “There’s more than just Disney World!” in fact Disney World is not actually even in Orlando, but rather the neighbouring Lake Buena Vista, a municipality of Orange County that is actually controlled by The Disney Corporation.
There are many things to do in Orlando besides the Big 3 Parks and still plenty of others even if you do not wish to visit a theme park at all. Whilst Orlando obviously owes a lot of its fame to Disney and most of the shops in the major tourist districts are well stocked on Disney merchandise, it is easy enough to head a little bit deeper into the city and avoid the animation giant altogether. In fact if you show an interest in avoiding Disney at all, some of the more cynical locals will probably take a shine to you.
Orlando may be known as an expensive city due to the fact that theme parks tend to have overinflated prices in any country but there are a lot of cheap hotels in Orlando outside of the resorts for the budget conscious traveller. The hotels in Orlando itself also range up to beautiful 5 star resorts that would be considered top of the range in most other cities, however it is hard for even the top hotel companies like Hilton or Hyatt to compete with the Juggernaut of Disney and as you’d expect all of the best hotels in Orlando are situated in the parks themselves.
We here at Travelbag have compiled a list of some of our favourite hotels in the most popular demographics for you in order to make your decision of where to stay as easy as possible. Firstly, for the budget conscious travellers out there we have the Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando, a surprisingly cheap hotel in Orlando. Rosen Inns are a new brand from the premium Rosen Hotel chain aimed at the more saving savvy market, meaning you can rest assured knowing that you are getting world renowned service and expertise for as cheap as possible. Next up, for those who want to experience Florida but avoid the busy parks we have the Villas of Grand Cypress, luxury accommodation set in the heart of Orlando. These luxury villas are so spacious that it is possible to have a full, relaxing holiday in the villa grounds without ever even hearing a certain mouse being mentioned. Finally, for the crowd that desire the best of the best hotels in Orlando and know the real reason that people visit the city, we have Disney's Polynesian Resort, situated in one of the most exclusive parts of the park, this resort is based on the Hawaiian way of life and, amazingly, is the best of both worlds, a white sandy beach hotel inside the greatest theme park on earth!
There are a ton of things to do in Orlando, however the parks are an obvious choice, so we here at Travelbag have come up with a fun list of activities for you:
