Day 1: Auckland – Coromandel
Having collected your car from either the airport, or downtown Auckland, you’ll head out of the city to your overnight accommodation on the Coromandel Peninsula.

Day 2: Coromandel Peninsula
Spend a day at leisure exploring the delights of the Coromandel Peninsula – which could include the opportunity to marvel at the marine life that lives off the coast, or the chance to explore verdant rainforests.

Days 3 & 4: Coromandel Peninsula - Rotorua
Leaving the peninsula behind, you’ll hit the road to drive to Rotorua where the remainder of the day can be spent exploring at leisure. An optional pass can be purchased that grants access to a number of attractions, including the Rainbow Springs, Skyline Skyrides Gondola and Te Puia, with its famous geyser. In the evening, there is an optional visit to Mitai for a traditional Maori Hangi – where food is cooked in a large pit – accompanied by a cultural concert experience. You’ll then have a second day to explore around Rotorua at leisure.

Day 5: Rotorua - Napier
Leaving Rotorua behind, you’ll journey past the scenic sight of Lake Taupo to Napier, with the remainder of the day at leisure once you arrive.

Day 6: Napier
A day at leisure to explore Napier, although there is the option of an art deco walking tour which can be included as part of the package. Starting out in the centre of town, the tour includes a 30 minute long audio and visual presentation followed by a 90 minute walk around the town ending up at the Art Deco Shop.

Day 7: Napier - Wellington
Head cross country as you journey south from Napier to the city of Wellington, right at the southern top of the North Island, with time at leisure on arrival.

Day 8: Wellington
Explore Wellington at your own pace with a full day at leisure in a city marketed as the ‘coolest capital in the world’. Amongst the options you could explore are the Museum of Wellington, a popular zoo and the famous cable car; a ride on which gives views across the city.

Day 9: Wellington – Picton – Blenheim
After dropping off your car at the Wellington Ferry Terminal, you’ll then board the ferry to cross over to Picton on the South Island. Collect your new rental car on arrival before the short drive to Blenheim, where the rest of the day is yours at leisure.

Day 10: Blenheim – Kaikoura
Travel away from Blenheim down the east coast to Kaikoura, with the rest of the day to yourself to do as you wish.

Days 11 & 12: Kaikoura - Akaroa
Your journey down the coast continues as you enjoy the scenic drive to Akaroa; a small town on the Banks Peninsula. The following day is spent at leisure, with the optional extra of a two hour trip from the main wharf around the harbour to spot some of the local marine life.

Day 13: Akaroa - Dunedin

Day 15: Dunedin - Queenstown

Days 16 & 17: Queenstown

Day 19: Wanaka - Fox Glacier
