Destination Film Facts
  • Did You Know?

Will Smith is playing the Genie. He based his character as Genie on his 1990s roles (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Mike Lowrey and Agent J) and will be giving him a distinct hip-hop flavour.

  • Did You Know?

The live-action version will introduce a couple of new characters not seen in the animated original: Mara, a handmaid and friend of Princess Jasmine, and Hakim, the Chief of the Guards.

  • Did You Know?

Guy Ritchie wanted to do a film for his five children and Disney’s Aladdin was the story he was closest to. Much like his other movies, it’s about a street hustler who makes good, so it was a story he knew how to do.
