Uluru, Australia

As the UK’s lockdown restrictions ease over the coming months, we can all begin to look forward to travelling again. So what better time to start thinking about the trip of a lifetime? After a year of uncertainty and cancelled plans, you can finally make up for lost time by booking a bucket list holiday for 2022.

We know what you’re thinking – 2022 seems a while off. But the truth is, an epic adventure takes a fair amount of planning. And a few far-flung countries – like Australia and New Zealand – have hinted that they won’t be opening their borders until at least autumn 2021. So, to avoid any potential disappointment, we’d recommend booking for next year, when you'll be able to go on the trip of your dreams. Tempted? Kick-start your travel plans with our top selection of bucket list holidays for 2022.

Australia

Boasting knockout natural wonders, iconic cities and fascinating wildlife, it’s easy to see why a holiday to Australia is on so many travellers’ bucket lists. The sheer scale of Oz – plus the distance you need to travel to reach it – means it’s worth spending at least three weeks there, if you can. Whether you opt for a tour, a road trip or a cross-country rail journey, you certainly won’t struggle to fill the time.

You could focus your attention on the east coast, hopping from Sydney to Brisbane to Cairns. In-between these sun-soaked cities, you can surf in Byron Bay, explore Fraser Island, hike through the Daintree Rainforest, and snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef. Or spend your time in Western Australia discovering Perth’s fantastic food scene, visiting wineries in Margaret River, and swimming with wild whale sharks at Ningaloo Reef. Or perhaps seeing sacred Uluru is at the top of your bucket list? However you want to spend your trip to Australia, our experts will be able to create a tailor-made itinerary for 2022.

The USA

The USA is one of those places that you can return to time and time again. Each state feels like an individual country, offering different experiences for everyone – so a trip to America might crop up on your bucket list a few times. Maybe you’re dreaming of a New York getaway, where you can splash the cash on Fifth Avenue and watch a dazzling show on Broadway. Or perhaps Florida holds more appeal? In the Sunshine State, you can relax on Miami’s sugary beaches, visit world-famous theme parks in Orlando and go island-hopping across the Florida Keys

If a road trip’s more your style, a holiday to the USA will never leave you disappointed. You can travel along iconic Route 66, which stretches all the way from Los Angeles to Chicago. Or take the well-trodden route from Las Vegas to San Francisco, passing through Death Valley and Yosemite National Park on your way. Alternatively, if you’d prefer to get off the tourist trail, consider a road trip through scenic Oregon – this lesser-known state is home to stunning mountains, pin-striped vineyards and oh-so-cool Portland.

Japan

It’s hardly surprising that holidays to Japan have soared in popularity in recent years. Seamlessly blending cultural sites, mouth-watering cuisine, natural beauty, bustling cities and impeccable hospitality, this place really does have it all. So, if the Land of the Rising Sun has been on your bucket list for a while, why not tick it off in 2022?

There are so many fascinating places to visit in Japan – from ancient temples to historical museums – where you can learn about one of the oldest cultures in the world. Meanwhile, at the other end of the spectrum, the vibrant cities are a hubbub of modern life. You can marvel at the sheer scale of Tokyo, eat your way around the culinary capital of Osaka, and visit Kyoto's stunning shrines. Nature-lovers should travel in spring to see two of Japan’s most famous sights – a snow-capped Mount Fuji and the beautiful cherry blossoms. Whether you want to join a tour of Japan or explore in your own time, we’ll take care of all the details to make sure you have a holiday to remember.

New Zealand

Few places on Earth are as awe-inspiring as New Zealand. And nowhere else is as far away – the Kiwi capital of Wellington lies more than 11,600 miles from London. So, if you’re planning a trip to New Zealand, we’d recommend going for at least three weeks. And, after so many travel restrictions, when better to go than 2022?

If you love the great outdoors, New Zealand is the ultimate bucket list holiday. Mother Nature peaked when she made this place – and we don’t just mean the mountains. With millennia-old glaciers, rumbling volcanoes and impossibly-blue lakes, New Zealand offers endless adventures. The North Island is home to geothermal wonders, Maori attractions and beautiful beaches, while the South Island is filled with dramatic mountains, ice caps and glass-like fjords. You’ll also find vineyards, lush forests and welcoming cities dotted across both islands. The hardest part will be deciding whether to focus on one island, or go the whole hog and travel around both. If you’re not sure what to do, please speak to our experts. We can help you choose an organised tour or plan a unique itinerary for you – whichever you’d prefer.

Milford Sound, South Island

Canada

If you’re looking for a getaway filled with outdoor adventures, but you don’t want to travel quite as far as New Zealand, consider going to Canada in 2022. As diverse as it is vast, this North American beauty is home to breathtaking scenery, amazing wildlife and vibrant cities.

You could spend some time exploring eastern Canada, where you’ll find cosmopolitan Toronto, thundering Niagara Falls and Nova Scotia’s cute coastal villages. Or, if you head west, you can explore glittering Vancouver, see wild bears and whales, and hike through scenic Whistler. Alternatively, fly straight to Calgary – the gateway to the Rockies. From here, you could hire a car or campervan and discover the postcard-worthy sights of Banff National Park. Want to simply sit back, relax and enjoy the views? Hop aboard the famous Rocky Mountaineer and weave through the scenery in style. Give us a call today to start planning your 2022 holiday to Canada.
