Why wait until the spring to have a holiday? Now Christmas is done and dusted for another year you should reward yourself with an unforgettable holiday. We’ve got so many great destinations for you to choose from.

In Part 1 we looked at what Dubai, Thailand and Las Vegas has to offer you and in Part 2 we’ll focus our attention on New York, Sydney, the Maldives and Mauritius.

New York

Fourth on our list of the top post-Christmas getaways is the Big Apple. New York is an amazing place to visit anytime of the year but if you visit in late December/January you can enjoy great sales too. You’ll be able to pick up so many bargains in Bloomingdale’s, Soho and the countless stores on Fifth Avenue that you’ll be spoilt for choice.

You simply must admire the views at the Top of the Rock Observation Deck for yourself. You’ll also want to see the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, the Rockefeller Center, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and take a stroll through Central Park.

If your holiday falls between the 13th and 17th January, you can enjoy the Winter Jazzfest Festival which has been voted the best Jazz Festival in North America. It includes performances by Kamasi Washington, Dave King, Happy Apple and Cory Henry amongst others.

Sydney

Sydney is another destination that should be on your bucket list, if it’s not already. Post-Christmas is the perfect time to visit as it’s summer over in Australia. Sydney is a vibrant city with plenty of attractions and activities to keep you busy for two or three weeks.

You’ll want to spend a good chunk of your holiday on one of Sydney’s many beaches soaking up the sun and trying out some of the water sports on offer. You’ll have to check out Sydney Harbour, the Sydney Opera House and walk across Sydney Harbour Bridge – it’s what everyone needs to do on their first visit.

If you’re a fan of history and art, then you won’t be disappointed by the range of museums and art galleries that can be found in Sydney. We highly recommend the Australian National Maritime Museum, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Museum of Sydney and the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia.

If you’re in Sydney from the 7th – 26th January, then you’re in for a treat as it’s the Sydney Festival. This annual event showcases the very best in drama, music and dance performances, circus shows and art installations.

Maldives

If you want to enjoy uninterrupted sunshine but you don’t want to be rushing from place to place in order to see everything, you should opt for a post-Christmas break to the Maldives. This is the place to go to if you want to relax and take things easy.

It’s a luxurious destination so you’ll be blown away by your villa and resort. You’ll be able to chill out, read some good books, eat some delicious food and go swimming and snorkelling in crystal clear water. It really is paradise.

If you feel like going out one day you could go island hopping and visit the capital Malé or perhaps go on a deep sea fishing trip? You’ll definitely need to take advantage of your resort’s spa and have a massage or two.

Mauritius

The final destination on our top post-Christmas getaways list is Mauritius. It offers temperatures of between 26°C and 32°C. It’s a beautiful country with lots of gorgeous beaches and national parks for you to explore.

You should spend a day at Port Louis, admiring the cathedral, shopping in the Central Market and going for a trek in the mountains. The Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens in Pamplemousses are well worth checking out and we highly recommend you spend an afternoon at the Black River Gorges National Park.
