Now Christmas is well and truly over, why not treat yourself to a holiday in the sun? Leave the freezing temperatures of the UK behind for a week or two and enjoy some ‘me’ time sunbathing on a tropical beach or exploring a vibrant city. Go on, you deserve it!

We’ve got lots of suggestions of great places you can visit in this two-part guide to the top post-Christmas getaways.

Dubai

First on our list has to be Dubai, one of the most stunning cities in the world. It’s so modern and luxurious that you’ll feel like royalty from the minute you step off your plane at Dubai Airport.

You can expect temperatures to be between 25°C and 35°C during your stay and there is plenty to see and do. Dubai is home to the world’s tallest skyscraper and the world’s biggest shopping mall. Its hotels are incredible and offer a level of luxury you won’t have experienced anywhere else.

Thailand

Thailand is a wonderful country and should be on everyone’s bucket list. It’s a great place to visit in January because its flowers are in full bloom and you can enjoy temperatures of between 20°C and 30°C.

Rather than just staying in one place for the duration of your holiday, you’ll want to travel around and explore everything Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Khao Sok, Lampang, Phuket and Koh Samui have to offer. We highly recommend you spend a day or two with one of the hill tribes in Northern Thailand to learn about their way of life and go to a cultural festival if you can. Thailand has so much to offer you. You’ll love tasting authentic Thai food and the people here are so friendly and helpful. You’ll feel like you’re in paradise as you sunbathe on unspoiled beaches. Why not take a hike through the jungle and see some spectacular waterfalls? Your money will go far in Thailand, which is another great plus.

Las Vegas

There is no place on earth like Las Vegas and that’s why it had to be number three on our list of the top post-Christmas getaways. Its hotels are destinations in themselves and the Strip is something you need to see for yourself. It’s the entertainment capital of the world. You’ll want to check out the Bellagio and The Venetian hotels for sure, they’re spectacular. You can see a fantastic fountain show at the Bellagio and go for a gondola ride at the Italian themed The Venetian.

If you love shopping then you can shop ‘till you drop in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, any time day or night as they’re open 24 hours. You’ll definitely want to go on a day trip to the Grand Canyon and also see the famous Hoover Dam during your holiday too.

We highly recommend you see a Cirque du Sol show during your holiday. You should also try to catch a magical show by Penn and Teller.
