10 fun activities to try in Dubai – Part Two

by Travelbag on 08 January 2016, 11:01AM

We think it’s pretty impossible to visit Dubai and not have an amazing time as it’s a city that offers you so much. Whichever hotel you choose to stay in, you’ll be blown away because of the level of luxury offered.

Dubai is a vibrant, exciting city and there are lots of fun activities for you to try during your stay. In Part One we recommended that you go for a safari ride in the desert, visit Ski Dubai, enjoy a trip in a seaplane, check out Aquaventure Water Park and head to the Lost Chambers Aquarium. In Part 2 we’ve got even more great suggestions. Read on to find out more…

Watch the Dubai Fountains

If you visit the Burj Khalifa or Dubai Mall make sure you pause for five minutes to watch the Dubai Fountains show. This free show takes place once every half an hour but can get crowded so make sure you try and get close to the front so your view is not obscured.

Intro1

Visit Wild Wadi Water Park

We might have already recommended Aquaventure Water Park in Part 1 [link to blog] but we couldn’t help but recommend Wild Wadi Water Park too as it’s well worth visiting both water parks if you’re spending a week or more in Dubai. Water parks in the UK simply can’t compete with the 30 rides and attractions on offer at this fantastic water park.

Intro2

Go for a boat ride

You really should go on at least one boat ride during your time in Dubai. If you’re looking to enjoy something extra special with your family, then why not go for a sundowner cruise with the Dubai Marina Yacht Club? You can watch a beautiful sunset together, whilst sipping champagne and eating canapés.

Alternatively, you could go on a fishing trip or if you want to see Dubai’s famous landmarks, why not go on a Yellow Boats trip? You’ll have to hold onto your hats as the Yellow Boats go pretty fast!

Intro3

Head to Meydan Racecourse

If you’re a fan of horse racing, then you simply must go for a tour of the Meydan Racecourse stables and grandstand. Your guide will explain all about the history of horse racing in Dubai and you’ll get to stroke the racehorses in the stables and watch as they get fed, taken for a swim and shod.

Tours take place every Tuesday and Wednesday morning from 7.30 – 11.30. You’ll start your experience by enjoying a buffet–style breakfast at the Farriers Restaurant. You’ll be able to watch the racehorses being exercised on the track as you eat.

Intro4

Enjoy a cycle ride with a difference

Whether you’re a keen cyclist or just fancy doing a bit of exercise during your holiday, why not pop along to a cycle path or track one day? We highly recommend the Al Qudra Cycle Path, Nad Al Sheba Cycle Path and Dubai Autodrome as cars are not permitted so you can cycle without worrying about traffic.

If you’re holidaying with children, then you might want to try the Nad Al Sheba Cycle Path first as it has a special track designed to teach children about road safety. There’s a BMX track and good changing facilities too. There’s also a children’s cycling track next to Jumeirah Beach which might be worth checking out if you’re planning on visiting the beach one day.
The best time to go for a ride on the Al Qudra Cycle Path is on a Friday or Saturday morning. On a Wednesday evening you can cycle for free at the Dubai Autodrome from 6pm – 9pm.
