The Ultimate Film Location Guide: North America

by Travelbag on 23 August 2016, 12:08PM

We all have that favourite film which we've watched more times than we can remember, right? How about seeing it in a completely new light, and visiting the location where it was filmed? This blog will tell you where some of your favourite films in North America were shot and what you can get up to in that location!

Hollywood's Walk Of Fame

Nakatomi Plaza - Die Hard

The enormous 34-story Nakatomi Plaza featured in Die Hard is really Fox Plaza, which is the corporate headquarters for Twentieth Century Fox in Los Angeles. Century City complex is where the Nakatomi Plaza is specifically located and it’s surrounded by a 180-acre complex with malls, towers and entertainment centres... so you’re bound to have a jam-packed day here! Visit the building where the majority of this classic American action film was shot, but also where Speed, Airheads, and Fight Club scenes were filmed too.

The Swan House - The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games features so many scenes with sensational buildings including The Swan House in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The Swan House was built in 1928 and stars in both “Catching Fire” and "Mockingjay Part 1". There is also plenty to do here, as there is an Atlanta History Museum, Smith Family Farm, six historic gardens and the list goes on! Tours of this historical building are offered weekly, so be sure to take a look.

Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters - X-Men

Hatley Castle in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada was used in the incredibly well-known American film series, X-Men. The exterior of this magnificent building was Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters throughout the series. This National Historic Site of Canada has stunning grounds which include gardens and walking trails... we wish the trails were for Professor X or Quicksilver!

Beverly Hills - Pretty Women

The 1990 classic, Pretty Women is a guilty pleasure and a favourite amongst many. Here at Travelbag we think visiting Beverly Hills in Los Angeles - just to see where the film was shot - is a good enough reason to visit! Stroll around the areas featured in the film, like Santa Monica Boulevard for yourself. Indulge in some retail therapy and feel like a true celebrity as you shop till you drop.
