7 Reasons to Fall in Love With Brazil

by Travelbag on 18 August 2016, 15:08PM

After three weeks of our TV being filled with the stunning backdrop of Rio during the Olympics, we’ve caught samba fever and we can’t be the only ones, right? Brazil is a vibrant country, teeming with life, from the white sand beaches, into the rhythmic cities and onto the verdant rainforest. In case, you haven’t yet got in the mood for a trip to this incredible South American country, here are 7 things that are almost guaranteed to make you fall in love.

1 –Rio De Janiero

Rio de Janeiro

Rio isn’t the only thing to love in Brazil, but it’s certainly a good place to start! Allow yourself to be seduced by Rio’s two glorious beaches – Ipanema and Copacabana. Or be blown away by not only the iconic Christ the Redeemer, atop Corcovado Mountain, but also the panoramic views from it. There isn’t another city with a feeling quite like the carioca spirit, encouraging you to live life to fullest.

2- Festas (Festivals)

Brazil Carnaval

While the most famous of Brazilian festivals is the bright coloured, dancing until sun up Carnaval, it’s not the only one worth seeing, nor is Rio the only place to experience it. As well as the amazing Carnaval, Brazil also hosts the largest Oktoberfest found outside of Germany, and during Ouro Preto's Semana Santa (Holy Week - starting Palm Sunday) the streets are carpeted with flowers.

3 – Iguassu Falls

Iguassu falls, Brazil

The largest waterfall system in the world, need we really say more? Probably not, but we love it so much we will. A chain of over 100 falls in a 3km stretch while cutting through the Iguassu National Park rainforest. While here we suggest getting up close and personal with the falls and doing a boat tour. Also, make sure you don’t miss the cute coatis!

4 – The Amazon Rainforest

Amazon rainforest

We can’t think of anywhere in Brazil with as much chance of adventure than the Amazon. Weave your way through dense forest, kayak the world’s longest river, or just see what new animals you can spot. However, due to the gargantuan size of the jungle you may not see everything you wanted to in one day.

5 - Gruta do Lago Azul (Blue Lake Cave)

Gruta do Lago Azul

It is possible that no human had set foot in this cave until its discovery in 1924, all those years of unearthed beauty almost seems a shame. The cave is filled with astonishingly clear blue water that turns a particularly beautiful blue when hit by sunlight. Over 200 ft deep and a known treasure-trove of giant mammal fossils makes for a special kind of scuba dive.

6 – Elevador Lacerda (Lacerda’s Elevator)

Salvador, Brazil

Named after its creator, this massive, yet stunning, Art Deco elevator serves a practical use in Salvador: linking the upper and lower plains. This 72-metre elevator not only provides you with stunning views of Salvador and the Bay of Saints but come nightfall it is lit up a cacophony of colours and becomes the view.

7 - Jericoacoara

Jericoacoara Beach

A gorgeous beach, 300km west of Florenza in the state of Ceara, is known as the Mecca of kite and wind surfing. The area almost feels untouched by the modern world, streets still paved with sand, an economy reliant on fishing, and the deserted sand-dune beaches. The area is also famed for luring travelers in with its siren-like charm and causing people to stay for much longer than they anticipated.
