Australian flavours
When people think of top food destinations and enticing food, Australia is not always one that springs to everyone’s mind but trust me it definitely should. The country offers such a diverse range of cuisine that will certainly not disappoint anyone’s taste buds. The main ingredients used are simple fresh shrimp, marron and lobster add the combination of fresh herbs, garlic butter, lemon and chilli and the home-made marinades brings their barbecue alive. The humble beef burger is also brought to live with the addition of local mustard coleslaw and sliced beetroot.
Quay Restaurant, Sydney, New South Wales
We’re sure that as true food and travel lovers, you will have heard of Quay, as their lists of achievements are pretty outstanding…Best Restaurant in Australia, second year in the World Top 100 Restaurant list and believe it or not there are more. The food they offer is a real modern twist on the traditional Australian cuisine. Marron is a fish that is commonly used in Australian dishes and Quay have modernised and utilised the key flavours to reinvent a whole new concept and dish. Whilst you’re dining in style at Quay, you have the unbelievable view of The Sydney Opera House at one end and The Sydney Harbour Bridge at the other end, now that’s what you call a good view! This restaurant is truly a food enthusiast’s paradise and whilst you’re there don’t forget to try the Eight Textured Chocolate Cake, even the sound of it is fabulously indulging.
Sound of Silence, Uluru, Northern Territory
This experience is one that you are sure to never forget. You will be dining under the stars in the middle of the tranquil Australian dessert, overlooking Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and Uluru. The food they offer is truly fitting for the location; you can enjoy a gourmet 3-course buffet dinner, ‘Outback’-style canapés, Australian delicacies such a kangaroo, barramundi and even crocodile! But if the unbelievable view and the cuisine wasn’t enough, they have people from the local community playing the didgeridoo, traditional dance performances and music.
E’cco Bistro- Brisbane, Queensland
The E’cco Bistro has that traditional inviting bistro feel but it looks contemporary and sleek, the combination is perfect! They offer lunch and dinner but have a bar too, all at really affordable prices and the quality of the food is not compromised. Like Quay, the E’cco Bistro really pushes the boundaries of traditional Australian food and makes it into flavoursome works of art. The location of the restaurant is especially beautiful; in a historic building and a short walk away from the Brisbane River, so can stroll along the river after you’ve dined. They’ve been open for over 20 years and have become a key attraction point in Brisbane, so it’s one you can’t miss out...especially not when they offer cured ocean trout, oyster emulsion and wild rice!
