Fort Worth, Texas, The City of Cowboys and Culture

Visitors to Fort Worth, Texas can take advantage of a full schedule of festivities showcasing the city's distinct Western heritage alongside rich culture this fall. America's 16th largest city, Fort Worth will play host to Red Bull Air Race World Championships, Tarrant County Gay Pride Week, as well as celebrate its cowboy roots at the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering. The city will also show off its creative side with a Day in the District and the Lone Star Film Festival. A complete listing of fall offerings is below:
September 24 – 26, 2015
Held at Panther Island Pavilion's event center, The Shack, Fort Worth will play host to their own version of the famed German festival Oktoberfest from September 24 – 26. The festival stays true to the traditional, Munich-style Oktoberfest by offering authentic German food, beer and entertainment. Activities during the celebration include traditional German music, dachshund races, a keg rolling contest, chicken dancing, stein lifting concert, Bavarian folk dancing, biergartens and more. Red Bull Air Race World Championships at Texas Motor Speedway
September 26 – 27, 2015
The Red Bull Air Race World Championship returns to the skies high above the Texas Motor Speedway, as some of the world's best pilots navigate 82-feet-high pylons at speeds of up to 230 mph. The final two races of the season will take place in the US, with the first stop at Texas Motor Speedway, September 26 -27, 2015 (Saturday: Qualifying, Sunday: Challenger Cup and Finals.) Day in the District
September 26, 2015
Day in the District returns for its 10th annual edition on Saturday, September 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Held in Fort Worth's Cultural District, this celebration showcases the rich and diverse cultural offerings in the city by offering free admission to the area's museums, including the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, Kimbell Art Museum and more. Accompanying free admission are free performances from Fort Worth performing arts organizations, including The Lone Star Chorus, The Texas Boys Choir, The Texas Ballet Theatre and more. Tarrant County Gay Pride Week
October 1 – 11, 2015
Tarrant County Gay Pride Week Association is organized to produce and facilitate a family friendly, safe environment. Pride celebrations and events are to promote a positive image for the community regarding Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered individuals, as well as educate and celebrate the diversity of the GLBT Community of Tarrant County, its Families, Friends and Supporters. Events include the “Color Our World With Pride” parade and street festival and the Q-Cinema Film Festival. For more information click here.  
Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering 
October 23 – 25, 2015
The Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District plays host to one of the city's most famed events, the 25th edition of the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering and Western Swing Festival. The weekend offers events for the whole family including the Ranch Cutting Horse Association Rodeo, wagon train rides, trappings show, cowboy poetry, music, contests, cook-offs, concerts and more. This three-day festival brings together the best in music, cowboys, chuck wagon cooks, poets and more from across the globe, culminating in a celebration on the streets of Fort Worth. Lone Star International Film Festival
November 5 – 8, 2015
The sixth edition of the Lone Star International Film Festival will be held from Thursday, November 5 through Sunday, November 8, will showcase screenings, events, panels, and provide educational forums in which film makers and enthusiasts can learn more about the art and business of cinema. The Lone Star Film Festival is the most concentrated effort in the Lone Star Film Society's objective to provide North Texas with a comparable quality and diversity of film programming as any major metropolitan area in the world. Since 2007, the LSFF has welcomed honorees and guests that include Robert Duvall, Willie Nelson, Louis Black and more with 700+ awards and nominations from various awarding entities including the Golden Globes, Gotham and Independent Spirit Awards.
