It’s that time of the year when Christmas is a mere fading memory and we begin to count the days until the blue skies return and the fun of summer is upon us once again. With our escapist nature and instinctual need to make the year one remember we now all start to book our getaway adventures.

There is no bigger excitement than finding that faraway trip full of sun, sea, sand and exotic mystery. The anticipation of exploring and experiencing this new foreign land is enough to give anyone tunnel vision when preparing for their trip. The problem we all face, from families to an aspiring world explorer is that we forget to prepare for the inconvenience that is jet lag. Maybe you only have a short period in that first location or maybe you have sightseeing activities planned from day one, if you fail to plan for combating jet lag all of your early holiday ideas could take a back seat during the recovery period.

When setting off around the world and landing in different time zones, your body’s natural clock can struggle to deal with the change in its pattern. We then begin to suffer from this adjustment and are faced with deflating exhaustion, migraines and confusion. Things such as lack of sleep, movement and cabin air pressures causing dehydration are all major factors in causing this, but there are ways to combat jet lag. With more and more research going into preventing jet lag, prevention and recovery techniques and tactics are available to fight its effects. Now not only is it important to take action during your flight but it is also vital to remember to take steps before and even after your arrival to ensure you conquer the state.
