Top things to do in Dubai – Part One

by Travelbag on 18 December 2015, 14:12PM

If you want to go on holiday somewhere that is totally unique then you should choose Dubai – one of the most luxurious cities in the world. There is so much to do in this city that you’ll struggle to fit everything in, whether you’re there for a long weekend, a week or fortnight.

To make things easier, we’ve decided to list our must-see Dubai attractions and activities in this blog…

See the views from the top of Burj Khalifa

Dubai is an ultra-modern city and you’ll be blown away by its skyscrapers. You simply must visit the Burj Khalifa which stands at an incredible 2,700ft and is the tallest skyscraper in the world. A typical trip to the Burj Khalifa lasts an hour and a half. You can take a high-speed lift to the top and enjoy amazing views from the observation deck.

Intro1

Go shopping

Dubai is the perfect destination for people who love to shop. It’s home to the biggest shopping mall in the world – the Dubai Mall. Here you'll be spoilt for choice with over a thousand stores selling everything you could ever imagine. There is also the Italian themed Mercato Shopping Mall, art-inspired Wafi Shopping Mall and the designer focused Burjuman Centre to check out too.

Intro2

Visit an aquarium

If you’re visiting Dubai with children, then you definitely need to head to the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo one afternoon. It’s the largest suspended aquarium in the world and it’s located within the Dubai Mall. You’ll want to meet King Croc, one of the biggest crocodiles in the world. He’s over five metres long and weighs more than a men’s rugby league team!

The aquarium is also home to over 140 different species of aquatic creatures and in the Underwater zoo you can see Giant Spider Crabs, Veiled Chameleons, Humboldt Penguins, Scorpions and Arabian Toads as well as a whole host of other creatures. If you’re feeling adventurous you can go scuba diving with sharks or try out one of the aquarium’s special shark cages for size.

Intro3

Have fun at a theme park

If you have a Sonic the Hedgehog fan in your family then you can’t afford not to visit the SEGA Republic Indoor Park, which is also located in Dubai Mall. This interactive theme park has 15 rides and 170 games for your little ones to play on.

Go skiing

If you spend a morning or afteroon in Ski Dubai you might forget that it’s 25°C to 40°C outside, as this amazing ski centre has lots of real snow for you to enjoy. You can go skiing or snowboarding on one of the five ski slopes, whizz down a toboggan or play in the Snow Park.

Intro4

Explore the desert

No trip to Dubai would be complete without a trip to the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. You can explore on foot or in a jeep. You can go horse riding, see a falconry display, try sand-skiing and go for a camel trek if you like. You can camp overnight, enjoy a traditional meal and be entertained by belly dancers and musicians too. Any trip to the desert is bound to be magical.
