World Cup Quiz Ghana

intro1

Although they have been quite successful since the 1960s, the Black Stars did not qualify for a FIFA World Cup until 2006. This followed a fantastic year in 2005, where they were unbeaten and won the FIFA most improved team of the year award. In 2010, at the next World Cup in South Africa, they became only the third African team to reach the World Cup quarter-finals. Unfortunately they narrowly missed out on the semi-finals after Uruguay beat them on penalties.

intro2

Ghana has no obvious landmark tourist attraction like the Eiffel Tower in Paris or Mount Kilimanjaro in Kenya - its beauty and intrigue lies in everyday life, such as the bustling markets and its famous hospitality. But Ghana's natural calling card is its geographic blessing: hundreds of kilometres of coast shared by beautiful beaches, like those at Busua & Dixcove, ruined European forts, such as Cape Coast Castle, the poignant reminders of the country’s importance as a way station for African slaves, and the battered shacks of lively fishing villages. Accra is the commercial and cultural motor of the country, while Kumasi is the traditional home of the Ashanti, and is famous for its crafts. In the Volta region to the east, where the geography was given a facelift by the Akosombo dam, you can still find substantial swathes of forest crawling up mountains along the Togo border. And finally the North, which offers opportunities for wildlife viewing up close and personal.
