Indian Ocean Sightseeing Tips

As you are probably aware, there are some truly staggeringly beautiful places dotted around the Indian Ocean and they come in the form of many different landscapes. From pristine island retreats to the glorious azure blue waters of the ocean, there is a little bit of everything for everyone in this part of the world.

intro1

Sightseeing in the Maldives

First of all in the Maldives, there are plenty of sights, sounds, smells and tastes for you to experience. On the Maldivian island of Lonubo, there lies a spectacularly beautiful hotel and restaurant. The stunningly isolated island of Lonubo is the perfect setting for an exclusively unique dining experience: the enchanting sound of the rippling ocean upon the golden sands as well as the sight of the wonderfully turquoise lagoon – what more could you ask for?

intro2

The Kuredu Island Resort could be considered the ultimate holidaying island destination. White sandy beaches, a beautifully turquoise and warm lagoon while luxury accommodation are all at hand. With numerous attractions including world-class diving opportunities, spa and the only island within the Maldives to include a 9-hole golf course, Keredu Island is one of the most beautiful and functional exotic holidaying locations on the planet.

Intro3

The Maldives on the whole offers holidaymakers superb diving opportunities for those who are explorers at heart and are ruled by their imaginations. There are numerous diving schools on the islands that offer diving and scuba diving lessons, including weeklong courses so you can feel free to sample the wonderful waters of the Indian Ocean for a lot longer than a couple of hours.

Sightseeing in Mauritius
Alternatively, the islands of Mauritius offer something that is traditional in nature. Les Abineaux is one of the few remaining colonial houses on the islands and complete with it come tea fields as well as the factory that you can peruse at your leisure. Feel free to immerse yourself in the colonial traditions of the islands with a wander through the tea museum as well as a tea-tasting session.

intro4

Mauritius also caters for those with a somewhat inquisitive mind-set, with the island perfect for exploring. The islands consist of numerous exotic landscapes as well as some truly spectacular sights such as the Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens that date from 1767. Other wonderful sights include the idyllic Cap-Malheureux and Grand Bay, which offer picturesque sights for you to enjoy.

Sightseeing in Sri Lanka
When visiting Sri Lanka it’s hard not to think of the amazing elephant-back treks that are on offer through the lush landscapes and where you can feel completely relaxed while soaking up the views and travelling in the company of one of Earth’s most amazing mammals.

intro5

Furthermore, if you wish to sample something that is quintessentially Sri Lankan, then look no further than the Kandy to Nuwara Eliya train journey, taken at a somewhat slower pace than perhaps what you’re used to but that doesn’t matter as the stunning views that accompany the ride offer the perfect substitute.

intro6

Situated just outside of Kandy are the Royal Botanical Gardens and they are a sight to behold as the many species of flowers create a myriad of colour that you would think only an image could create while the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sigiriya, encapsulated by the staggering granite rock surrounded by thick jungle, is one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
