Luxury Maldives

by David Coupe on 28 June 2013, 18:06PM

As one of the largest resorts in the Maldives, it is easy to see why LUX* Maldives has become one of Travelbag.co.uk’s most popular five-star choices for both families and couples.

Surrounded by turquoise waters and golden sands, LUX* Maldives makes a bold impression as you step onto the jetty, a first contact complemented by friendly staff who are only too happy to get you check-in and settled in.

Sandy beaches

Such is the island’s size, a golf buggy was on hand to transport me to my Beach Villa, which at 95sqm is one of the largest rooms available at LUX* Maldives. With its outdoor bathroom, complete with huge bathtub, and airy interior, this high-specification room offers everything you would expect from a five-star resort. Even better, the access is directly onto the beach and you can be jumping into the warm waters in just five quick steps…!

For those seeking a more traditional Maldives holiday experience, the Water Villas are a veritable treat. Large open-plan bedrooms lead onto a back terrace that overlooks the sunset or the sunrise, while many offer direct access to the lagoon below.

More than most, LUX* Maldives offers an impressive variety of Water Villas, with standard Water Villas, Family Water Villas, Prestige Water Villas and the lavish LUX* Villa all available for those who want to realise their Maldives holiday dreams with a loved one or with their children.

Intro2

On land, as well as the Beach Villas, LUX* Maldives features Beach Pavilion, Sunset Junior Suite and Beach Pool Villas to suit every requirement and budget.

LUX* Maldives is replete with 11 tempting bars, restaurants and cafes across the resort to ensure every discernible taste is catered for. Our evening meal at the elegant Allegrai Restaurant blended exquisite Italian cuisine with succulent steaks cooked to perfection, but with international buffet selections, a Japanese restaurant and authentic Indian Ocean fare to be enjoyed at LUX* Maldives, a week’s stay will ensure plenty of culinary variety.

LUX* also offers a unique coffee service, created using its own private blend – a feature that no other resort group in the world can offer. Perfect for those who enjoy an early morning pick-me-up with their breakfast!

Intro2

Whether you want your Maldives holiday to be a chilled out escape to the resort’s tempting beaches, or whether you would prefer to stay active, LUX* Maldives has an extensive array of facilities to keep you entertained.

Swimming pools, watersports and the LUX* ME Spa are all treats waiting to be explored, though my personal highlights included getting the opportunity to snorkel in the pristine lagoon and enjoying a cruise on a local boat, complete with champagne and canapés.

Restaurant & pool

Despite the Maldives’ many islands across a large expanse of water, resorts are very well organised when it comes to transfers on arrival. For those with transfers, the LUX* Maldives desk is easy to find in the arrivals hall. From here, you need only walk just a few yards to the Seaplane Terminal to re-check your luggage before flying out again to the Southern Ari Atoll for a short 25min transfer. Once you have arrived, a speedboat will take you the remaining 15mins to LUX*

Though it was the first stop on an extensive Maldives tour, LUX* Maldives remained one of my favourites to the end of the trip.

Big enough to enjoy everything a fun-filled Maldives holiday has to offer in a modern and contemporary setting, yet still easy to escape for a more private and intimate hideaway, few Maldives resorts can match LUX* Maldives’ appeal to families and couples alike.
