What's In Your Travel Bag

One question that is often asked in the Travelbag office is:

“What is the one item that you simply cannot travel without?”

As you might expect, this evokes some truly weird and wonderful responses. We won’t name and shame, but some of the responses that came out of the office included a Nintendo DS, a husband and even a bottle of tomato ketchup.

We didn’t want to stop at that, so we put the question to our Facebook followers. Here are a few of our favourite responses:

Facebook comment 1

We sayVery sensible Gemma. When travelling light is high on agenda, you simply can’t afford to pack all of the above, so an iPad is the perfect solution. Plus, everyone looks cool with an iPad!

Facebook comment 2

We sayMuch agreed Sarah. You certainly don’t want to be caught short when you’re abroad and want nothing more than good ol’ English brew!

Facebook comment 3

We sayThis is a new one on us Michael. But, each to their own!

Facebook comment 4

We sayVery wise Rosemary. Plus, hopefully he’ll help you carry your bags. Double whammy!

Facebook comment 5

We sayToo much information, Ollie. But I’m sure we’ve all been there at some point.

Facebook comment 6

We say Absolutely Natalie. What better way to spend your holiday than relaxing in the sun with a good book? Heaven.

The question didn’t even stop there; we went on to ask some of our favourite travel bloggers from around the world. Here are some of their responses:

Heather Cowper from www.heatheronhertravels.com (@HeatherCowper)

“As a travel blogger I normally travel with quite a lot of tech gear; camera, video camera, audio recorder, laptop. However these days the one thing I can’t do without is my iPhone. I was a bit of a slow adopter on the smart-phone front, but since I got my iPhone a year ago I’m increasingly using to multi-task for photos, video and even as an audio-recorder at a push. It’s a real bonus when I’m caught out without all the normal gear.”

Sofia von Porat from www.aswetravel.com (@AsWeTravel)

“One essential item we always travel with these days is our iPhone – with its many useful travel apps, city maps, wifi, currency convertor, music and dropbox etc. it has really saved us a lot of hassle (and space in our bags!).”

Alexandra Kovacova from www.crazysexyfuntraveler.com (@Sexyfuntraveler)

“I’m a very clumsy person and a crazy one sometimes, and I can usually be found doing things I maybe should not, so the thing I cannot travel without is my favourite aloe vera gel. I need it to cure my bruises and scratches, so that I don’t get many scars.”

So, it turned out that this much-asked question conjured up a real mixed bag of responses (excuse the pun).

Next time you’re packing, think back to this post and make sure you haven’t forgotten one of those all-important items that you simply can’t travel without.
