Sun City- South Africa

Samantha Wadasck, a consultant from our Alton branch reports back from her recent trip to South Africa

I was really lucky to be chosen as one of the attendees on this year’s familiarisation trip to Sun City in South Africa. Myself and seven of my colleagues had four nights in this fantastic resort destination, located two hours drive from Johannesburg.

It was the first time I’d been to Sun City, I had heard so much about it so was looking forward to experiencing it first hand, it’s always great to be able to talk to clients about your personal experiences at resorts and destinations.

Sun City is a large resort, which consists of four hotels, we were staying at the Palace Of The Lost City. Our rooms were lovely, very spacious with enormous bathrooms. I would have loved to have spent more time in them but we had lots to explore.

We had a packed schedule for our short trip there, just some of my highlights included a segways tour, although I cant say any of the group are experts by any means, quad biking, going on a zip wire and of course a safari trip. In fact it says in one of the resort magazines, that there is 101 things to do at Sun City, and I can believe this, in the four days we did not stop.

A holiday here is great because you dont have to travel far to experience many different things, all activities are on site and the safari is only 15 minutes away, so no holiday time wasted on long transfers.
Some of the boys tested the golf course- a Gary Player course which definitely got the thumbs up. The gambling on offer was also a popular with certain members of the group, although I didn’t partake. I did however have my first ever jagerbomb at the nightclub in the entertainment centre. I told my teenage daughter this when I got home- she’s very proud!

It would have been lovely to have been there with my kids actually as it would be a great place to bring them, there is so much to keep them occupied, you are guaranteed never to have that dreaded moan of ‘Mum, I’m booooored’! I can imagine my lot spending hours on the numerous slides at the waterpark, whilst I could just float around on the lazy river- bliss.

For eating out there’s plenty of choice too- from fast food to five star dining. We actually had a wonderful treat and dined at Crystals- the top restaurant at the Palace, it was here I tried Ostrich, well, when in Rome.......

I would recommend four nights at Sun City and you can twin it with Cape Town and the Garden Route, alternatively with the Eastern Cape, for it’s wonderful beaches.

If you would like to chat through a trip to South Africa with me, do give me a call, i’m on 020 3139 7006, or pop in and see me in our Alton branch at 3-4 High Street.
