Ruth Downes, Sales Manager, Knutsford attended a recent Travelbag familiarization trip to Mauritius. Here she comments on part of the trip.

Lux Grand Gaube (formerly Legends)

We arrived at 4*  Lux Grand Gaube and were greeted by the rep who gave us a cool towel and refreshing drink before we began our tour of the hotel. This is a beautiful hotel situated on the North coast of Mauritius on a headland surrounded by water and golden sand beaches and all rooms have a sea view.
Because the hotel is spread out you don’t feel that it is busy and can easily find a quiet place to relax. The spa area is stunning with Jacuzzi and Hamman pools and waterfalls and a full range of treatments. The rooms are spacious and all have balconies that face the Sea.  We were lucky enough to be staying overnight and the bathrooms were huge and also had a large balcony where you can sit and enjoy the sea view.  There are six room categories ranging from Superior room to a lux villa with your own personal butler.

In the evening the hotel hosted a drinks party on the beach with Mauritian dancers, canapés, and drinks for all the guests to enjoy which was fabulous. The hotel has five restaurants and a cocktail lounge and beach bar.  After canapés on the beach we went to the beach bar and enjoyed a cocktail and then to the restaurant. We enjoyed the buffet where there was a huge choice of food on offer to temp any taste's.  There are a huge variety of water sports to enjoy from glass bottom boats, windsurfing water skiing and sailing. The hotel also has its own cinema and shows two films a day and has a screen on the beach where you can enjoy watching a film on the beach. There are also three swimming pools.
I would also recommend this hotel for families as they have a kids club for children between the ages of 3 and 11 and also a teen club for children between 12 and 17 where they can take part in beach activities or just meet other teens and hang out.
Prior to leaving we enjoyed breakfast at the buffet where there was again a full range to choose from.

Belle Mare Plage

Constance Belle Mare Plage is a 256 room 5* Luxury Hotel on the east coast of Mauritius set on 2km of beautiful white sand beach.
The Hotel boasts 2 x 18 hole golf courses which are international championship courses. One of the courses is directly over the road from the hotel and in a beautiful setting with lakes and deer roaming around the course. There is a golf academy which offers lessons and coaching and there is also a fine dining restaurant overlooking  the course .
In December each year they hold a golf tournament where professional golfers come and play with guests from the hotel.  The second golf course is a short drive away and green fees are free.

The hotel is on Half board and has seven restaurants and six bars. If you choose to stay half-board you have two restaurants to choose from which are both buffet style, however you can also choose to dine in any of the other restaurants and you get a credit of 950 to use against your meals.

We viewed the prestige rooms which are the lead in room category. These are spacious and face the beach, they can fit two adults and one child.  The Hotel also has 20 Villas with Private pools which have either two or three bedrooms and include butler service.

Watersports are free. There is also a fantastic Shiseido Spa

We enjoyed lunch by the beach bar and the food selection was excellent. Everything from local curries to hand made burgers are all cooked fresh in front of you. The service was also excellent.

This is a fantastic hotel that would appeal to Honeymooners, Golf Enthusiasts, and Families and has a free kids club.
