Where to go for a Quarantine-Free Holiday

A lot of travel plans have been put on hold in 2020, but there’s finally a light at the end of the tunnel. Countries around the world are beginning to ease their precautions, meaning that visitors no longer need to isolate when they arrive – so you can go on holiday without having to quarantine. Finally, you’ll be able to enjoy a ‘normal’ holiday, where you can explore your destination, experience different cultures and enjoy a well-deserved rest in the sunshine. And, thanks to the FCO’s travel corridors, you won’t need to isolate when you return to the UK, either.

So, what are you waiting for? Start planning your next adventure, as we reveal where to go for a quarantine-free holiday.

The Maldives

The queen of winter sun, the Maldives is back in business. Thanks to updated measures, you no longer need to quarantine in either the Maldives or the UK, when you return home. To be allowed to travel, you simply need a negative result from a COVID-19 test, issued up to 96 hours before your flight departs.

And where better to enjoy your freedom than the Maldives? These idyllic islands are synonymous with sugar-white sands, coral-filled waters and luxurious hotels. And the unique set-up of one-resort-per-island means you can truly relax in your surroundings, as you’ll only have to share your paradisiacal isle with your fellow guests. Spend your days snorkelling in the bath-warm Indian Ocean, unwinding on your sea-view terrace, and sipping fruity cocktails as you watch the sunset.

St Lucia

If you’re craving some Caribbean sunshine, St Lucia is the answer. This tropical island is famously romantic, with powdery beaches, lush jungles and top-class hotels. And St Lucia’s luxury resorts are going to come in handy because, under current guidelines, you’ll need to remain within your hotel for the duration of your holiday. But there’s a brilliant exception – you can still explore the island, as long as you book a hotel-organised excursion. So you could go diving off St Lucia’s coral reefs, hike to the top of the twin Pitons, or visit the world’s only ‘drive-in’ volcano, as part of an organised trip.

Or you could simply chill out in your resort – and who could blame you? Pamper yourself with a therapeutic massage in the spa. Curl up with a book by the tranquil infinity pool. And fill up on Caribbean cuisine and rum cocktails in your hotel’s gourmet restaurants. And, at the end of your trip, you can return to the UK without needing to quarantine.

Stay up-to-date with the FCO’s measures for St Lucia.

The Seychelles

Popular with celebrities, the Seychelles has the seal of approval from Hollywood’s A-list crowd and the royal family. So, if you want to holiday in style, this is the place to come. You can swim and snorkel among bright corals, stroll along untouched beaches, and kayak across crystal-clear waters.

You won’t need to quarantine in the UK when you return but, as ever, there is some small print. To be allowed to travel to the Seychelles, you’ll need a negative result from a COVID-19 test, no more than 48 hours before you fly. Once you arrive, you’ll have to stay within your hotel for five days, where you can make the most of the pool, spa, watersports and restaurants. You'll then be tested again and, if the result is negative, you’ll be free to travel anywhere within the Seychelles. We’d definitely suggest a spot of island-hopping, so you can compare the delights of La Digue, Mahé, Praslin and Silhouette Island

Dubai

One of our most popular winter sun destinations, Dubai is famous for its balmy beaches, soaring skyscrapers and luxury hotels. And you can now visit this sun-soaked Emirate without needing to quarantine, in either Dubai or the UK. To travel, you just need to have a negative result from a COVID-19 test, up to 96 hours before you fly – or you can take a test on arrival at Dubai Airport.

Once you reach Dubai, you’ll be greeted by toasty temperatures in the twenties, and plenty of things to do. Couples will love the city’s sleek beach clubs and swanky restaurants, while the waterparks and thrilling rollercoasters are ideal for families. You can splash the cash in Dubai Mall, and explore the fascinating Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood. Get your heart racing at the top of the cloud-piercing Burj Khalifa, or get your adrenaline fix in the desert dunes on a 4x4 safari.
