Arrive in Chiang Rai, close to the Laos border in northern Thailand. Meet your guide, transfer to your downtown hotel, and the rest of the day is free. Or stay closer to your accommodation and grab a photo at the city’s majestic golden clock tower before wandering the Chiang Rai Night Bazaar.

Today is for exploring the UNESCO World Heritage city on your doorstep. Visit the Royal Palace, the temples of Wat Mai, Wat Xieng Thong, and the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre. After playing petanque with locals, join a Tamarind Cooking School class and create your own delicious dinner.

Follow the Mekong River south past the green landscape of rice fields and rolling hills. Pass through local villages and witness life outside the bustling towns. Quiet and laid back, Laos’ capital is one of the world’s easiest to navigate. Visit the understated temple of Wat Si Saket and the golden stupa of Pha That Luang. Discover ancient exhibits and art at the Ho Phrakeo Museum. Climb the Patuxai monument and gaze across the city. Uncover the violent history of Laos at the COPE Visitor Centre, dedicated to victims of landmines and bombings. This evening, enter a local home and observe a traditional Baci ceremony.

Swap the capital of Laos for the capital of Cambodia and a completely new experience. Enjoy a short flight with private airport transfers and check-in at your Phnom Penh hotel. Today you’ll travel to Siem Reap and the iconic temples of Angkor.
