The Milford Road is one of the finest alpine drives in the world and provides access to Milford Sound. Leaving Queenstown, you’ll enjoy a relaxing trip along the shores of Lake Wakatipu through rolling countryside to Te Anau, and onto Milford. Milford Sound is at the mountainous northern end of the Fiordland National Park and is home to the renowned Mitre Peak. The image of this mile-high peak soaring above the sheltered waters of the fiord has been a symbol of New Zealand’s wild and scenic character for the best part of a century. On board the Milford Mariner, accompanied by a nature guide, you will cruise the full length of this spectacular fiord out to the Tasman Sea. The leisurely pace allows plenty of time to view the thundering waterfalls, mountains and wildlife. You can either explore in the tender craft and kayaks or simply relax on deck. You’ll enjoy a delicious evening buffet in the spacious saloon and as the sun sets and the shadows deepen you’ll anchor for the night in sheltered Harrison Cove.
Day 2: Milford Sound – Queenstown
Following breakfast you will have time for further exploration before you return to Milford and make the scenic journey back to Queenstown. You will arrive back in Queenstown mid-afternoon.
