Hit up three of Bali’s favoured beach destinations. Although this trio are all very different, you’ll surely come across glorious sunsets, trendy dining venues and ancient temples each step of the way. You’ll spend time in the classy area of Nusa Dua, where stunning beaches and slick hotels await, before moving on to the peaceful coastal outpost of Sanur. Here it’s all about sunrise yoga and beachfront strolls, providing the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind. Your last stop will be the up-and-coming resort of Canggu. Surfing enthusiasts can hit the waves whilst those looking for a more leisurely retreat may find themselves exploring the local villages where locals lovingly tend to their crops in the lush green rice fields.
Begin your Balinese jaunt in the swish resort of Nusa Dua, known for its chilled vibes and mighty fine coastlines. Beach-wise, you won’t get much better than this in Bali. The sands are soft, and the sea is shallow and crystal clear, perfect for leisurely swims. The hotels in Nusa Dua are classy and stacked with facilities to ensure a pleasant stay for all - you can expect plenty of spas, golf courses and restaurants. There are injections of the culture here, too, with cliff-top temples such as Geger Temple and Pura Jagatnatha, made entirely of white coral and host to monthly festivals celebrating the full and new moon.
Next, head to Sanur, an easy-going resort stretching approximately 3 miles along the east coast. This relatively undiscovered gem attracts those looking for a serene escape. There’s an authentic charm about the area, too, with colourful jukung fishing boats dotted along the shoreline and fishermen wading out onto the reef for their daily catch. Rent a bike and cycle along the boardwalk, a lovely scenic path backed by pretty hotel gardens and beach restaurants. On a clear day, you can see Mount Agung Volcano. And let’s not forget the sunrise; here, it’s unmissable, so rise early and make your way to the beach to experience it. You can even join in with a sunrise beach yoga class too!
Last but by no means least, it’s time for Canggu - located on Bali’s south-western coastline and well-known for its epic surf scene, fantastic dining venues and family-friendly activities. Most of the action here centres around Echo Beach. This black sand beach is a surfing hub by day, but by night it transforms into the perfect setting for a romantic seafood dinner, either beachfront or enjoying the panoramic views atop a cliff. If you’re travelling with little ones, then there’s plenty to keep them entertained. Cool off in Splash Waterpark, get a strike at the bowling alley or take a riding lesson along the beach. Be sure to journey from Canggu to discover one of Bali’s most photographed temples, Tanah Lot. Surrounded by crashing waves and with a cultural park on-site, it’s a place not to be missed.
