So you’ve decided on Indonesia as your holiday destination, but you’re not sure where to go? Look no further than this fantastic itinerary combining endless Balinese beaches with the rich, tropical hills of Ubud.
Whether you’re travelling solo, in a couple or as a family, both Jimbaran and Ubud offer something for everyone including local food stalls and markets, surf lessons and local wildlife.
Located in the coastal south of Kuta, Jimbaran is a quintessential Balinese fishing village and a hidden gem within the incredible archipelago of Indonesia. Framed by towering limestone and cliff-fringed coastlines, this area combines the natural splendour of Bali with a traditional, laid-back way of life. For travellers with a penchant for adventure, Jimbaran is a surf lover's dream with continuous waves and reef breaks.
This region of Bali also boasts ancient and magnificent landmarks including the incredible Uluwatu Temple which sits atop a cliff, and the Garuda Wisnu Kencana cultural park. For beach lovers, look no further as you will be spoilt for choice. The infamous Balangan Beach is situated on the northern side and is a mecca for amateur and pro surfers alike. With a very laidback feel, this beach displays a range of local warungs (food stalls) along the coastline serving simple meals to all. Perfect for families, Dreamland Beach has been dubbed the “New Kuta Beach” and it’s no wonder with its endless white, glistening beaches. Surf classes are available from different operators. But if you’d prefer to rest and relax, grab yourself a parasol and while away the days under the Balinese sunshine.
Once you have your beach-fix, head into the hills of Bali and into the tranquil surroundings of Ubud. Tucked away within luscious rice paddies and emerald, green mountains - this area of Bali offers yoga at sunrise, Balinese massages in the afternoon and traditional dances into the evening. See the other side of Bali and leave feeling rested and relaxed.
Dubbed as the “Cultural Heart of Bali”, Ubud has plenty to see and do if you can drag yourself away from your pool and away from the sundowners. Visit the area’s famous Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary and try to spot the mischievous, long-tailed monkeys that call the rainforest their home. Check out the magnificent Palace with its wonderous architecture and history, or head to the “Elephant Cave” thought of as one of the island’s most impressive archaeological sites. There is something for everyone within Ubud and our amazing travel experts can help you on every step of the way!
