Charming Chiang Mai

Anantara Chiang Mai Resort is right in the heart of Chiang Mai – a modern, sprawling city, which has managed to keep a firm grip on its traditional charm. The historic centre, in particular, showcases this brilliantly. You can see remains of the old city walls and moats, and watch robe-clad monks go about their daily routines. There are hundreds of temples of various shapes and sizes scattered around Chiang Mai, but the most famous has to be Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. And, thanks to its hilltop location, it also boasts fabulous views over the city. Make sure you also spend a day at Elephant Nature Park. This place has been rescuing elephants since the Nineties, and is famous for its ethical treatment of these gentle giants.
